From: GUEST,Sarah

Hi. I know this isn't exactly folk music...but does anyone have all the words to "The Rainbow Connection"..you know, the one Kermit sings? I've hunted but can't find anything.

Rainbow Connection

Why are there so many
Songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side
Rainbows are visions
But only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide
So we've been told
And some chose to believe it
But I know they're wrong wait and see

Someday we'll find it
The Rainbow Connection
The lovers, the dreamers...and me

Who said that every wish
Would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star
Somebody thought of that
And someone believed it
And look what it's done so far
What's so amazing
That keeps us star gazing
What do we think we might see

Someday we'll find it
That Rainbow Connection
The lovers, the dreamers...and me.

Have you been half asleep
And have you heard voices
I've heard them calling my name
Are these the sweet sounds
That called the young sailors
I think they're one and the same
I've heard it too many times to ignore it
There's something that I'm supposed to be

Someday we'll find it
The Rainbow Connection
The lovers, the dreamers...and me.

If my memory serves me correctly (thank you memory, you may have Thursday off this week), the record is 2 minutes and 14 seconds for an offsite answer, and is Joe's. yours, Peter T.

Does that make this a new record then? And does he get extra credit, or possibly a time reduction for all the pretty colors?

The record is two minutes for a reply with a clickable link - a tie between Jeri and Pene Azul. Slow Joes' best time is three minutes, and that was long ago.
What was that you asked for, Wyo?

"It's Not Easy Being Green"
(Kermit the Frog)
©1970 Jonico Music, Inc.

It's not that easy being green;
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves.
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold-
or something much more colorful like that.

It's not easy being green.
It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things.
And people tend to pass you over 'cause you're not standing out
like flashy sparkles in the water - or stars in the sky.

But green's the color of Spring.
And green can be cool and friendly-like.
And green can be big like an ocean, or important like a
mountain, or tall
like a tree.

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why?
Wonder, I am green and it'll do fine, it's beautiful!
And I think it's what I want to be.

Leslie Braunstein- Pepamar Music Corp.- ASCAP

I'm in love with a big blue frog,
A big blue frog loves me.
It's not as bad as it appears
He wears glasses and he's six foot three.

Well I'm not worried about our kids,
I know they'll turn out neat.
They'll be great lookin' 'cause they'll have my face,
great swimmers 'cause they'll have his feet!

Well I'm in love with a big blue frog,
A big blue frog loves me.
He's not as bad as he appears,
He's got rhythm and a PhD.

Well I know we can make things work
He's got good fam'ly sense.
His mother was a frog from Philadelphia
His daddy an enchanted prince.

The neighbors are against it and it's clear to me
And it's prob'ly clear to you
They think value on their property will go right down
If the family next door is blue.

Well I'm in love with a big blue frog
A big blue frog loves me
I've got it tattooed on my chest
It says P.H.R.O.G. (It's frog to me!)

ITSY BITSY TEENIE WEENIE YELLOW POLKADOT BIKINI

She was afraid to come out of the locker
She was as nervous as she could be
She was afraid to come out of the locker
She was afraid that somebody would see
(Two, three, four, tell the people what she wore)

It was an itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polkadot bikini
That she wore for the first time today
An itsy teenie weenie yellow polkadot bikini
So in the locker she wanted to stay

She was afraid to come out in the open
And so a blanket around her she wore
She was afraid to come out in the open
And so she sat bundled up on the shore
(Two, three, four, tell the people what she wore)

It was an itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polkadot bikini
That she wore for the first time today
An itsy teenie weenie yellow polkadot bikini
So in the blanket she wanted to stay
(Two, three, four, stick around we'll tell you more)

Now she's afraid to come out of the water
And I wonder what she's gonna do
Now she's afraid to come out of the water
And the poor little girls turning blue
(Two, three, four, tell the people what she wore)

It was an itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polkadot bikini
That she wore for the first time today
An itsy teenie weenie yellow polkadot bikini
So in the water she wanted to stay

From the locker to the blanket
From the blanket to the shore
From the shore to the water
Guess there isn't any more

WW, is this a setup? Did I read somewhere that there are no words in the English language that rhyme with orange? But I'm sure the Cats can come up with something...

12 Oct 00 - 04:15 AM (#317039)
Subject: What Rhymes With Orange?
From: Joe Offer

In an episode of the old children's TV show H. R. Pufnstuf, the character Witchiepoo sang a song that went:
Oranges poranges, who says, oranges poranges,
who says, oranges poranges, who says--
there ain't no rhyme for oranges!
Orange

Which word rhymes with "orange"? I can't
Think of one within this rant.
The morning sun is orange, it's true,
But later has a yellow hue.
An orange is orange all the time,
But with it nothing else will rhyme.
Perhaps there's not another word.
Then these lines would be absurd.
Or maybe I've not found it yet;
But no one I have ever met
Knows of a word that rhymes with "orange"...
I guess my poem is done.
Dilemma

"What rhymes with 'Orange'?", the poet laments.
Only some syllables that don't make much scents.
Other citrus will offer no problem to rhyme,
Be they grapefruit or lemon or kumquat or lime.

And salads from radish and raisin and apple
Can be rhymed with the entree, Philadelphia Scrapple.
Dessert from the cart simply must be a tart
Or a pie ala mode that is served ala carte.

After dinner, the study, for snifters of brandy.
You may then tell the host that Cognac would be dandy.
But alas, there is nothing that rhymes with my orange,
So I'll just cut it up and mix it into my porrange.

I could not find a rhyme for orange
I gave up and closed the door and
Just felt very nauseous -
Next time I'll be cautious
To keep my hands out of the door hinge

The members in panel or in jury
The various rhymes for orange try.
They look for the one
Most complex, but fun
That still avoid lexical injury.

DEEP PURPLE
(words by Mitchell Parish, music by Peter DeRose, 1934)

When the deep purple falls
Over sleepy garden walls.
And the stars begin to flicker in the sky
Through the mist of a memory,
You wander back to me.
Breathing my name with a sigh.

In the still of the night,
Once again I'll hold you tight
Though you're gone, your love lives on
When moonlight beams.
And as long as my heart will beat,
Lover, we'll always meet
Here in my deep purple dreams.

It was also recorded by Nino Tempo and April Stevens in the 1960's

RED RUBBER BALL
By Paul Simon

I should have known you'd bid me farewell
There's a lesson to be learned from this and I've learned it very well
Now I know you're not the only starfish in the sea
If I never hear your name again, it's all the same to me

And I think it's gonna be all right
Yeah, the worst is over now
The morning sun is shining like a red rubber ball

You never care for secrets I confide
To you, I'm just an ornament, something for your pride
Always running, never caring, that's the life you live
Stolen minutes of your time were all you had to give

And I think it's gonna be all right
Yeah, the worst is over now
The morning sun is shining like a red rubber ball

The story's in the past with nothing to recall
I've got my life to live, and I don't need you at all
The roller coaster ride we took is nearly at an end
I bought my tickets with my tears, that's all I'm gonna spend

And I think it's gonna be all right
Yeah, the worst is over now
The morning sun is shining like a red rubber ball

And I think it's gonna be all right
Yeah, the worst is over now
The morning sun is shining like a red rubber ball
It's bouncing and it's shining like a red rubber ball
