25 Aug 97 - 05:08 AM (#11153) Subject: New Personal Pages Feature From: Max Please note that the final test version of the Membership Rewards Program is now available. There are links throughout the site and you may get there here: http://www.onstagemedia.com/mudcat/Personal.cfm. You must be a member for this to work. This is a very powerful system that allows you to Add, Edit Links and Bookmarkany you like, Track Threads by selecting only the ones you want to follow, as well as a new way for members to talk to eachother. There is a Message system that works off your cookies. You have an inbox, and archive, an outbox, and a directory of members. I am too tired to explain it as well as I should, but I will later today. In the meantime, play around with it. I don't think you can break anything. Post any errors, questions or comments in this thread. Have Fun. |

25 Aug 97 - 05:27 AM (#11154) Subject: RE: New Personal Pages Feature From: Max There is one step yet to go. I will have an interface that will let you design your personal page to the fullest extent that I can figure out. You should be able to change anything from the order of items to text size and color as well as which items you do or do not want on your page. Should just be a few more days. |

25 Aug 97 - 08:25 PM (#11225) Subject: RE: New Personal Pages Feature From: Susan of DT Max - Keep up the good work. 1. Glad to hear about the font size, being both myopic and bifocaled. I found the font size on the links to be difficult and often wish the print were larger, especially when my eyes are tired. 2. Rather than a select list of threads with tracers, I, for one, would prefer a delete-a-thread. You can never read only the tracers, because there are new threads every day. I would like to eliminate threads I read once and found to be of no interest, so I do not keep encountering them when the name is not clear. That way a smaller list would come up until one reset to "show all threads" a) would others like that? b) can you do that? thanx. |

25 Aug 97 - 09:12 PM (#11228) Subject: RE: New Personal Pages Feature From: Dale Rose I thought about that, but there are problems as I see it. For example, some time ago there was a thread that outwardly was of no interest to me, but I noticed that the number of responses had gone far beyond the number you would expect to see from that particular subject. So I punched it up, and discovered the "Great California Dreamin'/Folk Music Debate". I would hate to have missed that, even though I don't think we ever got around to an answer. Of course, deleting threads from a person's own list would be their choice, but they would have no way of knowing what was going on in those threads after that point. My theory is: I read the ones that I am interested in, and I answer the ones I care to. I have to admit to not responding at times, even when I know what the person is looking for. Oh, sometimes if they are not getting anywhere, I might go back later and respond, but it depends on how much I care about what they are talking about. Now that the default setting is three days, I never find the list too long anyway. Note that I am not arguing with Susan, merely adding my thoughts on the matter. |

26 Aug 97 - 02:47 AM (#11237) Subject: RE: New Personal Pages Feature From: Max It is nice to know that the "Hard Core" Mudcatians are of the same mentality as me. Dale: Right on. All we do is what we can. Susan: Be sure that I can do anything, the big question is do they want it. |
