BS: Quote of the Day

From: dick greenhaus

" Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in a final sense a theft from those who are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. The world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

A used fingerpick to the first one to correctly attribute the quote (hint: 1963)

Dwight Eisenhower.........Eisenhower had made many adamnt warnings about the "Military Industrial Complex" dating back to his first term as President......There are some great notes between Ike and George Kistiakowsky that make for interesting reading, circa 1958.

Keep the pick....I don't use fingerpicks.

Oh, gawd, more Greenhaus gas...no, really, great quote, Dick--even though he was a Republican Eisenhauer may have been one of our last sane presidents.

Maybe the gas I smelled was from 'Spaw's vegemite.

ah damn I could have used a pick. I read an arcticle on Ike awhile back regarding Ike's views on the Military Industrial Complex too. Interesting also that he thought a good use for nuclear bombs, would be to use them to blast the St. Lawrence Seaway. Swords into plowshares. People are wonderful bundles of contradictions aren't they? But I agree he was probably the last sane President
