Tune Req: Molly St. George

Someone told me they like this tune
I have not heard of it
The information I have is that it is in Geraldine Cotter's 'Traditional Irish Tin Whistle Tutor' and was written by Thomas Connellan in the late 1600's
Anyone know the tune and is it worth purchasing the book for it?
Roger

Several versions, from 1724 and later, are given in 'Sources of Irish Traditional Music', 1998. See the sources listing in the Irish Tune Title Index on my website. www.erols.com/olsonw

Roger,

Bruce Olsen's website is here and the section that I think he's pointing you at is here

I would however warn you that despite the fact that there is undoubtably a huge amount of information there, it is possibly the most user unfriendly site on the web.

Good luck in trying to understand it.

Zeb

Unless I am mistaken, there is no sheet music or tune there for Molly. If there is, I couldn't find it. I don't have it in any of my books, either. I have a session this afternoon, and I will ask. The other fiddler has several whistle books, and another friend has the entire Kerr Collection.

Thanks everbody but Sorcha has just reminded me of something, people at sessions with whistle books!. I am sure that a friend mentioned having Geraldine Cotter's book, I had just forgotten as it was a long time a go. I will email them and see if they still have it, so for now don't spend any time looking for the tune as it might have been under my nose all the time!
