I have only heard this song once and a chorus line(that may be the title) goes: What colour is the wind daddy. If anyone can can provide more information it would be much appreciated.

The song your after is "What Colour is the Wind" by Charlie Landsborough.

He had a big hit with it in Ireland, about 5 years ago. I can't seem to find a homepage for him, but the song can be found on various 'Best of' CDs quite easily.

Hope this helps.

Zeb

This song is one of my all time favourites.....it's about a little blind girl asking her father the question..."What colour is the wind?"
Charlie has a beautiful voice and is such a lovely man!
His other song "My Forever Friend" is also wonderful.
I have the cd if you need it.
best wishes, Yvonne

Thankyou Zeb and Yvonne. That was a very rapid response and gives me enough info to track it down. Thanks very much to both of you.

Poor wind - he just wanted to do some f* good blow job.

Thank you, dear Liz for first getting silly, maybe I wouldn't have dared otherwise.

For those of you who remember Brian Osborne who sang with the Taverners (Blackpool England) during the 60's & 70's. He recorded "What colour is the Wind" on his last solo C.D. "A Capsule in Time" (2000) a great song and Brian sang it with his usual care and feeling.

Haven't found that version of it yet, but I found this poem here

Reverbations

What colour is the wind?..
so asked a curious child to me one day.
It is no foolish question since
it came from the depth of the heart
of an innocent cute little blind girl!
'What colour is the wind'... I wondered;
Is her world incomplete
just because she dwells in the dimensions
of only four senses rather than the confines of five?
I pondered... what is colour to her,
I got perplexed again.
In the unfathomable multitude of creation
existing in myriads of names and forms
everything is complete,it is said.
God,you are not unkind for,
the Mother nature you embody communicates
through everything unbiased
in countless ways transcending the limit
of words and mundane perceptions too.
Looking at her radiant face
and listening to the humming wind I experienced
a silent transperception and in a moment's inspiration
I started speaking without quite knowing
how to put it across;
still without sadness I said:
I will tell you the colour of the wind, my child.
"It is the softness of the rose petals upon your tender cheek;
It is the coolness of the mountain spring;
It is the melody of the song of twittering birds
timidly knocking upon the doors of silence as you lay half awake;
It is the fragrance of the thirsty land after the summer shower ;
It is the gentle sound of the sprouting seed;
It is the taste of dew wet honey drop from the wild flower.
Such is the colour of the wind, my child."
and she gently smiled saying 'I know!'.
Yes, she knew it all along for,
what else could have been colour to her.
As she rose to leave she clasped my hand
which lay on her lap and said 'Thank you'.
I watched her go soaring in effulgence
not groping in darkness gently fading out of sight.
Did you hear that,Good Lord..
she is thanking me.
It is me who must thank you my child
for you made me realize just now that it me who is blind!

Obviously a child from an Irish background; in Irish the winds from different directions have different colours. Black wind from the north, forget the rest, offhand.

"in Irish"

What that supposed to mean?

Maybe I should refer you to the Pedants thread

WHAT COLOUR IS THE WIND?

What colour is the wind, daddy?
Is it yellow, red or blue?
When he's playing with my hair, daddy,
Does he do the same to you?
When he's dying, does his colour fade?
Is a gentle breeze a lighter shade?
Just like his friend the sea,
The wind seems blue to me.

When the blackbird starts to sing, daddy,
Do the flowers hear him too?
When he's pouring out his heart, daddy,
Tell me, what do roses do?
Do they cast their scent upon the air?
And is fragrance just a rose in prayer,
Giving thanks to God above,
For the blackbird's song of love?

Blow, wind, blow wild and free.
My daddy says you're a lot like me.

I know each colour, its shape and size.
I've seen them all with my daddy's eyes.

I know that grass is green, daddy.
I've touched it with my toes.
And snow is purest white, daddy.
I've felt it with my nose.
But my favourite colour has to be
The colour of your love for me.
And daddy, I've been told,
That love is always gold.

Blow, wind, blow wild and free.
My daddy says you're a lot like me.

What colour is the wind?

[Recorded by Charlie Landsborough on "What Colour is the Wind," 1995.]

Fiction, it would be much better if you created a new message with the title of the song as part of the subject line. That way more people can see it. Hopefully someone who knows the song can help then.
