17 Oct 00 - 11:00 AM (#320850) Subject: Has anyone heard Willie's latest? From: Steve Latimer I am a huge fan of Willie Nelson and I'm also a blues nut. So news of Willies latest, Milkcow Blues is pretty exciting to me. My CD budget is not what I'd like it to be, so I'd like some feedback before parting with money. I've always thought that Willie would be a superb blues player/singer. Has anyone heard it? Does he pull it off?

He does it as a duet with Susan Tedeschi and it's decent, very listenable, but I still like Patsy Cline's interpretation better. Tedeschi is the one who adds the bluesy feel to the song, though. The arrangement is more in the jazz vein. |

To compare it to On the Road Again is unfair because that was written as a theme for the movie Honeysuckle Rose which was essentially a film about being on the road. The list of great songs that Willie has written is too long to even start. I'll forgive him for On The Road Again. |
