German Music-URGENT HELP NEEDED

I'm in an Irish band and we have been booked for an Oktoberfest party. We will be doing mostly all Irish tunes but they want us to learn some German polkas, etc. So far all we have is the Chicken Dance. Does anyone know where we can find downloadable gifs/notations on the net? We are looking for Beer Barrel polka especially. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Paddy.

try searching on

polkas "sheet music"

on www.google.com

Historic american sheet music may be your best bet, but there were a couple hundred hits

It doesn't matter what the hell you play.

There is nothing legitimate about this date for an "Oktoberfest"......

Only deserate cheap bastards would book an Irish Band that had no clew.....

Obviously, they are drinking whiskey rather than pure B-12, yeasty, beasty, infested, REAL_BEER....and therefore,

THEY DON'T

GIVE A DAMN

WHAT YOU PLAY!!!!!

There's a Midi of Beer Barrel Polka here.

Ignore Gargoyle, it is the height of bad manners to be invited to do a particular gig and not learn at least one set of music connected with the gig. Having said that, you can get away with a lot of ordinary polkas if you put lots of bass oomp pa pa on it. However, if you play them early on when people are sober and recognise them, you can earn brownie points, and then do them again later when they will be momentarily distracted by amounts of alcholic beverages....

Paddy,

If it was actually the Oktoberfest (which it isn't; the date is wrong), Gargoyle's advice (they don't care what you play) would be on the spot. But it seems to be a more private party and therefore I'd learn two or three German/Czech/Polish or so polkas.

click here to get midis of different Polka's (including beer barrel polka)

And if you play the Irish tunes, play them as you play them in Ireland (without the umpta ot oompapa sound), I bet you the listeners like them more this way.
