Since you seem so desperate, CowMan--

I don't think this is what you're loooking for, but Skip James does a song called either Sickbed Blues or Washington DC Hospital Center Blues. The refrain is something like, "Cause I'se a poor man, but I'se a good man, you understand." The song deals with the difficulty of getting decent medical care if you're poor, and is as relevant today as it was when he sang it in the 30's.

I've heard the song he is referring to, but for the moment, I don't have any more than what he already put up there. I will continue to think about it. Buck White and the Down Home Folks, maybe?

It is something that goes like this:

I'm a poor rich man
I'm a poor rich man
All you see that's happened to me
I'm a millionaire
I know that I'm poor but I've got a lot more
Than many rich friends that I know
I've got a home in the sky that money can't buy
I'm a poor rich man.

You can hear this at YouTube:

POOR RICH MAN
Words and music by Bud Chambers
As sung by the Cathedrals, a.k.a. The Cathedral Quartet

CHORUS: I'm a poor rich man.
I'm a poor rich man.
For, you see, it really happened to me.
I'm a millionaire.
I know that I'm poor, but I've got a lot more
Than many rich folks that I know.
I've got a home in the sky that money didn't buy.
I'm a poor rich man.

1. We us'ly judge a man by the clothes he wears,
Or the car he's ridin' in,
And you can us'ly tell if he's doin' very well
By the house he's livin' in,
But I am here to say it doesn't work that way
With everybody I know,
Because I just got acquainted with some poor rich folks
A little while ago. CHORUS

2. When a man is rich with this world's goods,
He's us'ly got a lot of friends.
They all want to try to live so high
Even though they know that it's a sin,
But if I could, I don't believe I would
Want the riches of this old world,
For when it's time for me to go, I'll be glad to know
That I'm a poor, poor rich man. CHORUS
