I just realised.....( yes, I know I'm slow.....it's a well-known and accepted fact on here)that it was MY AUNT FIN who finally killed the Killing the Thread thread.I think this deserves huge snogs, relative or not. Well done Fin, I'm that proud!!

Uncle Pat, you are a VERY bad man......and as you are an honorary member of the family, that makes Fin your sister.........and you don't want to get her mad at you, really you don't....

The Navajo people, here in the U.S., have a custom of never mentioning the names of those who have passed on. They believe doing so will bring the departed ones' spirits back to haunt them. I wonder if this applies to Mudcat threads.

Like bad lunches, bad threads can come up when you least expect (or desire) them to.

Spaw, go read my last four or five posts to my "Coping with holiday phobia" thread, and see what you did by bringing "that thread" back.

Can I blame my current infestation on you too? The KTT thread is so long that my computer refuses to load it........either that or it has compassion/taste/fatigue.What you have posted will remain a mystery........that you have done it at all will not( and your current stance on the middle-east crisisis what?)

Hey...Wait a minute here........Once again I get the blame, but I see that the last name on the thread is the "alliterate" Morty!!! How can I be blamed for a computer that WORKS!!!

I read that they have just managed to resurrect some 250 million year old bacteria from a lump of rock. So ths thing has some way to go I fear.

Just in case you want to know, without loadingthe bugger -here is the current last post on the death thread, from Bernard (but I doubt if it'll stay the last post for long):

VIRUS ALERT

THIS THREAD HAS BEEN INFECTED WITH A MANUAL VIRUS

< How it works:

The manual virus works on an honour system. So, please firstly e-mail this to everyone in your mailing list, then randomly delete a few of your own computer files.

Thank you.

Clevwer stuff! You could stick that one at the end of the death thread I suppose. Except that people would walk round it once they'd tried it.

Don't do that too often though. And don't tell anyone else how to do it. There's some people who crawl around the Mudcat at times who would be likely to use it to totally wreck the place in a way that wouldn't be too funny.

Here is my confession: The "wobbly bit" came from from a document sent to me.

In the true spirit of programming, I plagiarised (Even though the code was easy to understand and I could write it - just never thought of it) something from somewhere that reached me. I just added colours and modified it to make applicable to a thread...

McGrath, with respect, all we are looking at here is a clicky to a page on my site. I guess we could argue not to teach blue clickies and I guess we could have guideliness as what not to link to but where would we draw that line?

Fin, you may be having second thoughts about now. Do. Have third and fourth ones if you like as well, but most of all, be afraid, be VERY afraid - Jon is our FRIEND!!

I was just cruising down the Thread list when I spot my name. MY fifteen seconds of fame! Now, if I could only figure out what I did. I didn't even know the thread was dead!

Darlin' Morticia, I squealed about your fleas BEFORE I read your plea, does that count against me? Your Mom and I were trying to design an addition for your house where you could strip off, step into a sauna, steam the little buggers and then.... whattahell.

Liz the Squeak, yes I've had second thoughts, even fourth, that's as high as I count.

Dear John, I mean Jon ...

All the great people at Mudcat, thank you for proving not all Chat rooms are covered in muck. I've spent a few nights (Hawaiian time) reading some of what you guys posted the night before. So many interesting threads, so many interesting people, so caring and supportive. I'm getting worried about really getting addicted, is there a clinic or a "Step" program or something I can attend? I do try to stay away, but it hasn't worked so far. Any help will be gratefully accepted.

Fin,

I doubt that there is a real way out of this place, once hooked one tends to remain hooked although some do seem to manage to withdraw for a short while and maybe even post less frequently. You are in a trap and there is no way out!

I even tried meeting Morticia and Micca at Llanstock last weekend (not to mention LTS and many others) and even that was not enough to scare me off ;-)
