Another year, a little less hair, a few more wrinkles, pear-shape a bit more pronounced, maybe getting a bit grumpy, a bit forgetful, growing more into the monicker "Old Fart"...at least that was it for me last month. How you doing, Leej? I don't get around much any more--and I really miss Blake Madison and the Hokey Pokey--but I am getting a bit more work done these days (not much, just a bit). Anyway, buddy, keep piling them on.

Spaw, Just at a different computer. Poo-Twa has lurked for a long time, and we got him to join on Bill and Allan's Mudcat trip. It's probably easy to change his cookie, but I don't know how. I'll be home soon, anyhow. Jay

Doggerel For Catterel

He who writes the songs of Humans, but with voice far more divine;
Seeks the clear song which is hidden, of the heart within the mind;
He who knows that singing answers every note of weeping's call;
And responds with deeper fires, that the heart my live withal;

He who knows the night's bright terror, yet rekindles gentlest day
And who flies with passion's thunder in the face of freezing clay
Rides the winds of Higher Spirit, through the clouds of matter's way;
Hark the man, and hark the wonder!
Happy birthday, LEJ!

When you wish someone "many happy returns of the day", it is literal. It is an archaic-sounding way of saying "live long and prosper", and a bit more personal.

I hate it when sincere phrases get turned into "sayings", that people mouth, but they don't mean, like "how are you?"

I've heard people say that to be polite, you are not supposed to answer that question. Which to me seems like saying, "well, I'm going to ask you how you are doing, but I'm really not interested in the answer, because I was just saying that so you'd think I was polite"... Grrrrrr!

When I ask someone how they're doing, I want to know! If I don't wanna know, or if I don't have time to listen, I just say "Hi!" and leave it at that. (Or: "Hi! I'm in a hurry, bye!")

Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEEJ! And many happy returns of the day.

Happy Birthday LEJ! A trip back to Kentucky is in order(?) At least, I seem to remember you used to live here. If you decide to do so, let me know. I'd like to meet you and tell you all about the "Homefront" radio series we are working on here.

The local paper, The Hustler reports that there was someone walking around in a Gorilla suit outside the Italian Touch Pizza joint. I thought it was another bigfoot sighting. Some say he shows at this time every year. Happy Birthday LEJ!

LEEJ- This has got to be one of the longest "Birthday" threads on record. No data to back up my claim, just a gut feeling. Sure glad your house didn't burn down. I aim to get your way sometime this summer. We ought to get any nearby 'Catters together at least once this year. ('Course, you're all welcome at my humble abode as well). I'd love to get together with you, Rex, and all your great friends again. And meet your family this time. Later, Jay
