Every one remembers the olden days when you sat around lstening to plays on the radio, but what I'd like to know is how exactly did they come about and why were they popular

No TV when I was a kid, the old 78 records were played so often you needed a change once in a while. The radio was the best entertainment, when no-one wanted to sing or play. Simply put it was the only game in town, no-one could afford theatre tickets in my family. Yours, Aye. Dave (who still listens to BBC shortwave)
