OK, there are lots of really bad personal pages on geocities or wherever.

This one however appears to be a commercial enterprise. It's shockingly bad:

www.mprairie.com

Can anyone point me towards any worse pages?

(personal home pages by teenages excluded)

Zeb

How about this one? It's the company I work for. The site has been "under construction" for a couple of years now. The guy who set it up no longer works here. If you try to e-mail him, your message will be undeliverable. Before I pointed it out, it even had the wrong ZIP Code for our address. Pretty embarrassing for a mailing company!

The worst website I've ever seen was a had pictures of the bodies of "leapers" after they had hit the pavement, the intent was to show people who were considering suicide what the results were--

My fav nasty bit of web-tripe; www.yourgoingtohell.com yes, that's your, not you're. It's a wacked fundamentalist site with lots of spelling errors, a vicious attitude, a few disturbing graphics, and the prediction that (unless you have the exact religious view as the site owner) YOUR GOING TO HELL! (sic)...(sick)

one of the oldest and best venues in Dallas is Poor David's Pub. It is an absolutely great pub, and a great place for music. Some really famous and talented people have played there, and it's one of my favorite places in Dallas to go...

That said, their website is awful....

take a look: *click*

hope I did that properly...

I think your site would win any competition easily.

Absolutely amazing.

Hey M. Ted, I saw a site with a suicide leaper on it too. the image on there was very disturbing, I can't get it out of my mind. that was the worst I've seen. I'm not usually grossed out by graphic images like that but something about that one just freaked me out.

LG-Yes, same here, it has been quite a while since I saw it, too, and it just won't go away--

The worst website I've ever seen can be found at www.shemoon.com. My opinion is less about the site's construction than it is about the HUGE ego of a woman with very little talent and a vague grasp of "New Age" concepts. I've seen her perform live and she refers frequently to her "gift" and her "soul songs".

Now GUEST, that wasn't very nice. While her website is not great, there is no way it comes anywhere near being the worst.

I assume that you must have some personal grudge against her.

BTW, do I know you?

Try visiting Web pages that suck.com. It's a fantastic resource, and very entertaining.
Ahhh - the internet - that's the trouble with freedom of expression, it's just generally being expressed so badly...

Well, this isn't the worst, but I think it's a thought-provoking example. I want to birdwatch around New Orleans, so I went to the web site of the New Orleans chapter of the Audubon Society. They have umpteen officers and a phone number to call. I called it three or four times, only to get a message from what sounds like an exhausted old man, who only repeats his own number and says leave a message. It may not be the chapter's contact anymore, how can I tell?

So I tried the e-mail address they gave, and it came back undeliverable. Then I left a message on their voice mail, giving my phone number and e-mail address, and they haven't responded after a week.

All I want to know is if they are having a drought like SW Louisiana is having, so you'd think they could answer that simple question via e-mail.

There are so many outfits that think it would be cool to start a web site, and then they just forget about it.

Geez, I think I'd rather concentrate on websites I like.

But I am going to investigate yourgoingtohell.com, cos it sounds too sick to pass up...

Fibula -- thanks for sharing "web pages that suck.com" -- I love that site and pray that nothing I ever do ends up there.

I think personal pages of any kind should be excluded. Not everyone can be a web designer ... Not even those who think they're web designers.

But the bad ones are exceedingly educational in that they provide very emphatic lessons in what NOT to do...

Like, having 27 different font colors on one site, coupled with an equal number of different fonts. Makes me woozy...

And the mprairie.com site makes me claustrophobic. Not exactly the feelign you want to evoke with something including "prairie" in the URL.

Wow! The "you'regoing to hell" site is definitely hilarious and worth checking but my favourite part is the Norwegian drillers who drilled too far! Yup, they actually drilled into hell, and upon hearing noises, dropped a handy microphone into the hole and recorded the screams of the damned.

Ain't the net great? Like everyone I always had my suspicions that there were a LOT of seriously disturbed individuals out there, but just picture the thousands (maybe millions?) who read websites like this and think the hell recording just might be legit. Then consider.....they too have the vote.
