He was a real hero of mine, when I was a ween - still is. I went with a friend from Dingle (where Sean Creane his ship mate was from, actualy Annascaul) to see the James Caird. It was a high point of my life to touch the stem of that remarkable piece of history. As Shackleton said, in his autobiography, about his reason (besides not putting another in risk) "I always was partial to a good row!" Enjoy the show for me, and hope that when it comes State's side, it is not on cable so poor bastards like me can see it! Salude! Larry |

His photos were incredible and they actually survived the expedition. He sealed them in a tin can so they would be preserved. The photos are in this book. It is more like a coffee table picture book, quite expensive, but worth the purchase. Bonnie |

At the launch in the SOuth Pole Inn in Annascaul,Frank Nugent apparently sang a newly composed song about Tom! Frank is a climber and singer who took part in the South Arís expedition last year which attempted to redo Shackletons journey from Elephant Island to South Georgia.
