This is NOT folk!

This song is pretty far removed from folk, but I have been trying to find the lyrics and chords if possible to a song written by Leon Russell, " Bluebird". My brother had an old 8 track , bootleg truckstop type tape , the only place I have ever heard it. I loved it. Why do none of the old 60's and 70's lyric links have Leon on them?

Down load the Lycos search engine and type in "Bluebird" Lyrics. See what you get. I found to sets of lyrics ro a "Bluebird" but I don't know what one you need. Both are attributed to Jeff Lynne.

Don, the ones one probably got were "Bluebird" from the 1984 album Secret Messages and "Bluebird Is Dead" from the 1974 album On The 3rd Day. Both are by Electric Light Orchestra and most definately not what rich is talking about....but they are great songs anyway!

Fly away, bluebird fly away for me....

Helen Reddy also recorded the Leon Russell song I believe you're looking for and it went to about 35 on the pop charts. Check the lyrics and see if this is the one.

The only part I remember is "I'm locked in this room with my sorrow No escape , no way to get away. And my only connection with tomorrow is Hoping that you might decide not to stay away."

It's a good song

I wasn't sure about the Helen Reddy one, so Spaw beat me to it. I did find out that Leon did "Bluebird" on his 1975 album "Will O'the Wisp."
