Lyr Req: 'God, give me a burden'

Here's a request I've gotten. Web searches have come dry. I have no idea whether any of these lyrics are correctly rendered. I thought maybe it would ring a bell with someone on this list.

"Either Gospel or a Cantata" leaves the field pretty wide open!

---

it`s either gospel or a cantata. Hope you can help. Here`s the words that we know:

God, Give me a burden Oh, God, Give me a word To help the hurt and crying, wounded, hungry, lost and dying world.

Lord, we have so much more than we deserve...

Out of our treasure, wealth beyond measure.

We say that we love our neighbor, but we don`t even know their name. Do our lives decribe his heart or our lives in vain?

One more time. All I found searching Google was someone else looking for the words on another forum.

Well, there's this:

Lord give me a burden for souls,
Give me a burden for souls,
Open my eyes, help me realize,
That right now it is harvest time.
Lord give me a burden for souls,
Give me a burden for souls,
Help me to care, help me to share,
Lord give me a burden, yes I need a burden,
Please give me a burden for souls.
(Song by Dale R. Starks)

A Google search for "give me a burden" (in quotes) brings up lots of stuff. I take it that it's some kind of evangelical buzzword - which makes for a pritty big haystack in which to find your needle.

Yep, that was my problem. Thank so much for your persistence! I'll pass on the information, and hope it's the song my questioner was looking for.

Dear Joe, you got it right. I'm passing on the rave I got from the person who originally asked the question. All these compliments rightfully belong to you.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!! Hi Miriam! I am so glad! I can't beleive that you actualy found it. You are THE BEST! I totally have given up on it. Thank you so much. I am forever in your debt! I can't wait to let my frend Jenifer know. This one got me stomped---a first for me, but my resourcefulness came through. You have no idea how cool this is. *HUGS* Thanks again, if I can be of any help, just let me know. Take care! Volunteer of the Month, try the YEAR!

Thanks, Miriam - she certainly was enthusiastic, wasn't she? I think the lyrics you posted may have been an extra verse, added to give a bit of social concern to the song (which, to my mind, is a very good idea).
