08 Sep 97 - 07:03 PM (#11997) Subject: problems in accessing Mudcat... From: Bill D I emailed Max about this...(I hope)..this change-over to a new server/address seems to have gotten a lot of folks lost! The old Deltablues address no longer works, and there are no intermediate links to get you there(here). The address which works is http://www.onstagemedia.com/mudcat/ I just got an email from a friend who has not been able to access the site...gets a message saying "we are working on our new home" it seems the new addresses have left a lot of regulars thinking it is not working at all!! If you know anyone who might be in this predicimate, let them know...I 'presume' it will all be straightened out shortly, but I 'assume' nothing. I recently got Netscape 4, and when I went back to my old copy of Netscape 3 to check on this, the bookmark there did NOT work! It had the old address. Not sure how all this happened, but it is, for the moment, a real maze! |

08 Sep 97 - 07:23 PM (#12000) Subject: RE: problems in accessing Mudcat... From: Tim Jaques tjaques@netcom.ca I get no such messages. I go to the "front page", and go to the discussion group. For some reason the search engine for the database at the "front page" doesn't work. You have to get into the discussion group and use the search engine there. The MIDI files won't play though, nor will the graphics display. |

08 Sep 97 - 10:14 PM (#12013) Subject: RE: problems in accessing Mudcat... From: Catfeet Me too! I had to look it up on Yahoo! and try 4 or 5 different addresses like the leadbelly room etc., but kept getting a no such html exists on this server error, I finally found one that worked, so there is at least one current address on at least one search engine! 08 Sep 97 - 10:22 PM (#12016) Subject: RE: problems in accessing Mudcat... From: Bill D Max said he was switching the addresses so that the 'prime' address, the one that takes you to the 'home' page would be different. The problem is, there have to be notices put on the OLD links & addresses to follow, & that is not in place yet...I would bet that there are many regulars whining & moaning right now, wondering when it will be 'done'..... Max...where are you?? Help!!! (I am still not sure how I managed to keep one working link in my bookmarks and have 3 others that do NOT work!) |

08 Sep 97 - 10:26 PM (#12017) Subject: RE: problems in accessing Mudcat... From: Bill D here is the relevant part of Max's post form the 'technical issues' thread We have made a major change today and a major discovery. The change is somewhat invisible to you all but I might as well let you in on it. We changed our network to a new set of IP addresses. We used to be on the 207.103.203.130 network and are now on 207.103.42.130. None of this matter to you but there may be a delay in filtering the name and traffic to the new IP's. Also, we got mudcat.org ordered and almost ready. This will eliminate the bounce to onstage computers. Our plan is to get everyone over to mudcat.org eventually. We will use deltablues.com as a mirror for a while (up to 6 monhts) and may do something else with it later. |

10 Sep 97 - 03:01 PM (#12111) Subject: RE: problems in accessing Mudcat... From: Joe Offer Dick, Max, or Susan - I guess with the cookies, you have a list of our e-mail addresses. If you can't link back here from the deltablues URL, maybe it would be an idea to send e-mail to members to notify them of the new URL. I was lost for 4 or 5 days until Bill D e-mailed me. Seems like most everybody is here, though. Maybe it's just me who got lost. -Joe Offer- |
