From: mkebenn worn to a frazzel, clear down to my bones, I've sung every song about bein' alone, Honey, please be there when I get home. the tourists have all given up for the night, I walk out in the cold on my left and my right and I must be some kid of fool to leave you alone. The wind's gettin' stronger, I'm caught by the throat, my tie falls and flaps like a pensioner's coat, Honey please be there when I get home. My friends are on the bogies and I'm on the pills and I'm hooked on the white lines that run thru these hills and I must be some kind of fool to leave you alone. There's not many wise men you'll meet in this life but young Bill Lavern, he never took him a wife. Honey please be there when I get home. Well, I asked him 'bout that and he just shook his head "I'm not the guy for the dreamers" is all that he said and I must be some kind of fool to leave you alone. I use g, c, g,d and g Mike Bennett |

From: mkebenn Ya know, I went right by the reference to pills and the white lines and assumed the singer was just that, playin' for the tourists...trucker puts a whole new spin on the song. Thank you all, it's a wonderfull song, maybe my forth or fifth favorite of Mr. Tyson's and it'll seem fresher now. Mike Bennett |

02 Mar 02 - 03:41 PM (#661464) Subject: Lyr Add: SOME KIND OF FOOL (Ian Tyson) From: Jeremiah McCaw I didn't try to list the chorus since it's just la-la-la-la throughout. SOME KIND OF FOOL Ian Tyson Worn to a frazzle way down in my bones I've sung every song about being alone Aw honey, please be there when I get home The tourists, they've all given up for the night Coyotes howl in the cold on my left and my right And I must be some kind of fool to leave you alone The wind grows stronger, I'm caught by the throat And my tarpaulin' flaps like a pensioner's coat Aw honey, please be there when I get home All my friends are on the pogey and I'm on the pills Hooked on the white lines that run through these hills And I must be some kind of fool to leave you alone There's not many wise men leading this life Old Will at the lake had never took him a wife Aw honey, please be there when I get home I asked him 'bout this and he just shook his head Not for drivers or dreamers was all that he said And I must be some kind of fool to leave you alone. |

07 Apr 10 - 01:25 PM (#2881488) Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Some Kind of Fool (Ian Tyson) From: GUEST,gully I want to thank all that have contributed and would like to add/correct some details. The two versions have slightly different lyrics. Some are slight and insignificant (these/the) but the line "not for drivers or dreamers was all that he said" in the Columbia release (1971) is "love is for dreamers; that's all that he said" on Ol' Eon. That character is Old Bill in one version, Old Will in another and I am virtually certain he is Old Bill "at the lakehead, he never took him a wife", at least in the Ol' Eon version. Not that anyone visits this discussion anymore anyway. |
