Hi all, John has been my favorite and biggest influence for 35yrs, just wondering if I've got brothers and sisters here. Mike Bennett

Didn't John Stewart replace Dave Garr as a member of The Kingston Trio, or do I have him confused with someone else? I think it's John Stewart's picture on the jacket back of Trio LP I have.

No, you're right: John Stewart replaced Dave Guard in the K3 when Guard left to form the Whiskeyhill Singers. Stewart then worked with Shane and Reynolds for a while, wrote "Daydream Believer" for the Monkees, and "Never Goin Back" for the Lovin Spoonful, had a terrific solo career (check out "The Phoenix Concerts" if they're on CD) and did "(People Out There Turning Music Into) Gold" with a bunch of Fleetwood Mac members.

The 'Complete Phoenix Concerts' and 4 other early albums, including my favourite 'California Bloodlines', have been reissued on CD - 2 to a single CD - by the German Bear Family label: Bear Family
