What historical event(s) does this refer to? What are "Peer rows"? (that's the way it sounds on the CD) What is "bowling with a corky" ? Again, that's the way it sounds. Who is Sam Clegg? Don't know for sure if the words above are correct! Thanks for any help given! |

However, in short, "Peer rows" are pierrots, or clowns. I think it's a particular kind of clown, but someone from the UK would know better. a "corky" is a practice ball in cricket, covered in cork. This is the first time I've tried this and it was great to get answers so fast!! I've got some of the answers to the "strange word" questions, which is a big help. I just would like to get the rest of the historical perspective eventually. I can't really buy the book Picking Sooty Blackberries before Saturday night, when the folk music group I belong to meets, but this was a great start! Thanks again. |
