Hi Max.
Sorry I messed up the first two tries!!!!

I have noticed that some of the threads requesting prayers have the 'BS' heading. Could we please have one more suited to the requests? Perhaps 'Prayer'?
Thanks and blessings

I thought BS was there to cover everything non-music? Maybe BS should simply be changed to NM, to accommodate those who worry too much about whatever BS might stand for. If the religious nuts get a prefix of their own, they can start to isolate themselves from the base heathen gits like me. Then we wouldn't go stumbling into their threads, which can sometimes be quite uplifting.

It stands for Blessed Soliloquies.

You can of course write anything and not use any of the 'prefab' prefixes.

Ignore them, start your post with 'prayer:' and you will get the effect you want

some people are now using non-music for non-facetious postings......would that be appropriate, do you think?

This one has done the rounds a few times with no resolution.

Two comments here.

We need to differentiate the music search/research threads for the benefit of those who don't want to read the conversational stuff. Whether its BS or NM doesn't matter, but we have fought this battle too often already and there's no sense in furthering the bloodshed......so let's not. Using the music related titles is also beneficial.

Second, we have a lot of wonderful people who like to give their support to other members in tough times, such as illness or more recently, in the death of CarolC's mother. We also have a wide variety of beliefs represented here and have had numerous "scrapples" over the idea of healing threads, prayer threads, etc.

I think we SHOULD be be able to offer whatever we have to others, but I also would like to see these threads under the heading of "Support for...." or "Good Thoughts to....." I think that would allow many to be involved and for all to accept in this wide panorama of belief systems.

Maybe a thread heading for fights would be useful. But then anything can turn into a fight - even a prayer. It'd be quite fun to have a gizmo that made the treads start flashing once a fight had started. Then we'd know either to stay away or pile on in.

Perhaps someone should set up as a war correspondent.

Seriously: I agree that "prayer" is too specific, as is "healing" - both terms shut out some people, and even spark arguments where they aren't needed. "Good thoughts" is as good as anything. That would cover the good news you might want to share, as well as the troubles you want to half.

*LOL* McGrath, I like the flashing thread idea. Live, from the trenches ...

McGrath, I like it. I've often thought we should have a scorekeeper, but a war correspondent is good too. Sort of like a sports commentatatator: "And now, ladies and gentlemen, in the 'Americans Are Fat, Polluting, Apathetic, Obnoxious A**holes' thread, we just saw Kendall score a major point with a one-liner about chickens. The defense is being very defensive. 'GUEST,who-am-I-now' launched an all-out attack on the current American president-elect, but it fell flat when most of the opposition agreed with him..." Like that?

I believe the sole reason for the BS heading is so people can filter out the non-music if they want. A lot of people object to the "BS" because 1) it sounds derogatory, even if the folks who started using it did so in a self-effacing manner, and 2) it doesn't differentiate realy dumb stuff from really serious stuff, but that (I would hope) is what titles are for.

I agree with the reasoning against Prayer as an official heading. It's more about requesting energy, in whatever form, imo.

and 2) it doesn't differentiate realy dumb stuff from really serious stuff, but that (I would hope) is what titles are for.
Jeri, I have to plead guilty in the recent mislabeling of a thread. Truly, folks, the 'how do you do it at home' thread is about voting and election procedures in the US and around the world. I think my brain burped. It never occurred to me to be specific. The bad thing is that one can't wipe it out once you realize what you've said.

Speaking of which, I would love more information on the subject.

Spaw makes some good points. I try to be very conscientious about using the BS prefix for non music threads. In the case of the thread for my mother, I just couldn't see using that under the circumstances. If there had been a widely accepted NM (non-music) prefix, I think I would have used it. But not something as specific as "prayer", etc.

I'm sorry Fionn but 'prayer' was the first word that came to mind. I think 'Spaw's idea is the best.
Now Dick, do U really expect me to buy that? :o)
McGrath, I am still laughing! Thanks! We all needed that.
Blessings all

Will someone tell me how I can turn off that flashing light? Please. ;O)

Perhaps we could differentiate between BS that is serious and BS that is less so. Perhaps SBS for Serious BS, and then we could use SBS for Silly BS. Hmm. Or not.

I think you ought to stick with the BS heading simply because Max has put in a "No BS filter" for those who would like to bring up exclusivly music threads. No big deal... Margo
