27 Nov 00 - 06:58 PM (#347341) Subject: Paltalk or Hearme? From: Zebedee I've not had much time to read threads recantly - so I've probably missed something. I'd be grateful to know what (if any) consensus has been reached. To listen to catters sing should I go to Paltalk, Hearme or somewhere else entirely? Thanks Ed |

27 Nov 00 - 07:05 PM (#347343) Subject: RE: Paltalk or Hearme? From: IvanB Ed, Hearme has announced an end to the voice conference rooms sometime in December. So, it seems, Paltalk is the definite site of choice until something better comes along. |

27 Nov 00 - 07:05 PM (#347344) Subject: RE: Paltalk or Hearme? From: Jon Freeman It's PalTalk Ed, it seems to work well and the sound quality is vastly superiour to Hearme's. Hearme end the service we were using on 11 December 2000 anyway. As for alteratives to PalTalk, let us know if you come up with anything - it would be nice to find the ellusive software that supports PCs and Macs... The only alternative I looked at this time round was FireTalk which required a higher spec (P233) PC and I know a number of us are using older equipment. Jon |

27 Nov 00 - 07:13 PM (#347349) Subject: RE: Paltalk or Hearme? From: Zebedee Jon, If it's Paltalk so be it - I dislike the constant banner ad and the fact that I have to turn my firewall off to access it, but that's my problem. Of greater concern is the fact that, at this time of night I'd usually find a few people on hearme, I haven't found any catters on paltalk in the last few hours... I wish I could find a better solution too Ed |

From: Sorcha Thanks, I needed to know that too, but was too embarassed to ask..........so, we delete HearMe, then find and download Paltalk. Does anybody know if it has to talk to Windows? I have 2 hard drives that don't talk to each other, and only one has Windows, and it is full up. Tells me so several times a day......... |

27 Nov 00 - 10:09 PM (#347408) Subject: RE: Paltalk or Hearme? From: Jon Freeman We have 2 separate questions here. The concert room that BigChuck owns (or is in his name) is password protected or locked. As MMario has said, the password to enter it is "marmot". This room is opened by BC or someone delagated by BC as and when required. The open session room has no password but it requires a key or code for anyone wishing to open/enter as admin. This code is 8421. Jon |
