Know of a good source of lyrics with chords? By Janis Joplin, Kris Kristofferson and such like. I'd appreciate your dropping me a note. Here and/or at dkominek@hotmail.com.

Me and Bobby McGee is strictly a three chorder: In G, it's G, D7, C (maybe with an occasional G7)

(G)Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waitin' for a train,
Feelin' 'bout as faded as my (D7) jeans,
Bobby thumbed a diesel down, just before it rained,
Rode us all the way to New Or(G)leans.
I pulled my old harpoon out of my dirty red bandanna,
I was blowin' sad while (G7)Bobby sang the (C)blues.
With the windshield wiper slappin' time, and (G)Bobby clappin' hands we fin'ly
(D7)Sang up every song that driver (G)knew.(G7)
(C)Freedom's just another word for (G)nothin' left to lose,
(D7)Nothin' ain't worth nothin' 'less it's (G)free.(G7) (C)Feelin' good was easy back when (G) Bobby sang the blues,
And (D7)feelin' good was good enough for me--
Good enough for me and Bobby Mc(G)Gee.

It's just the I, V7, I, I7,IV, and back to I, in whatever key you're in. --seed

The lyrics are in the DT, just click here. No chords there though. There might be a MIDI file somewhere else here on Mudcat, though.

Yes, there is a MIDI file at Alan's Mudcat MIDI pages, up there under Quick Links. It is a melody file, but maybe you can figure out the chords from it. Just Click here for sound.

It's in the DT, here:

You could have found it by clicking on 'M' in the DigiTrad Lyrics Search box above or by entering [Me and Bobby M] (with square brackets included) in the blank search box (I used only the first letter of the last name since you weren't sure of the spelling).

I have it in A, so it uses A E A D repeatedly, ending on an A E A progression. Although the tune isn't in the DT yet, I submitted a MIDI a while back and with any luck it's made it to Alan's Mudcat MIDI Page, which can be found by scrolling down in the box that says 'Quick Links' above.

MY version (like wot I play) consists of D G A7 modulating (!) to E A B7. If it's wrong, so what ?, it does me

All the best fB

Here I alway thought Bobby McGee was Rock n Roll?? or country if Chris Kristoffen sang it. I didn't know it was folk or blues?? Well, as I keep saying, I learn a lot here.

Love, a.

Anna, Kristoffersen wrote (and recorded) it.

And on his first album, just before singing it states emphatically that it's a country song (Janice Joplin had the big hit as a blues/rock version--and the words at Cowpie are the way she sang it, not quite as Kris Kristopherson did).
