KARENSPAW Says Thanks to Special Folks

FROM KARENSPAW:

Well, I am finally home and it sure feels good. I didn't think the hospital was going to set me free. I did learn that if you sit around and watch A&E all day you can see everything twice and Law And Order four times. I didn't think I would ever get tired of Law And Order, I was wrong.

It has been quite an adventure and one I wouldn't want to repeat. My fear came after the fact realizing what I had been walking around with for so long. Once I was in the hospital I knew everything would be alright. The staff at the hospital was wonderful and took very good care of me physically and emotionally. My co-workers came to visit and my boss came by to give me a raise so maybe I ought to be hospitalized more often.

I'm doing so much better now and getting used to home life again. Pat and I have been out and I have been trying to stay active. That means so far that Pat takes me to the grocery store so I can get some walking in. That will have to stop because I keep throwing impulse items in the basket. I don't think our budget can afford it. My next Drs. appt. is December 11 and I hope to be able to go back to work that night. I'll have to get used to working nights all over again.

I spent hours catching up on all the wonderful messages from everyone. I wish I had taken notes because there is so much I wanted to say to many of you individually. The Cat is a big thing around this house. Although I don't post I feel like I know so much about you. It was so wonderful to know how much you care and so very comforting to know that Pat had you to turn to for comfort and support. I can't tell you how much you all mean to me and to us. I thank you all for your messages of support and concern. You are all very special people in a very special place. As Pat always says, there is nothing quite like Mudcat.

Just a couple of notes. I would love to say something to everyone personally, so please don't feel left out here. I would like to say a couple of things to a couple of people:

JAZE--my close friend Marsha and her husband lost their sixteen year old son in a car accident eight years ago. I would then and still would do anything to make her hurt go away. I realized that I was helpless and she had to live throught the pain. I think it would be a wonderful world if the tears of those who love and care could somehow remove the tears and pain of those who are grieving. My heart goes out to your daughter and all the family and friends who love and miss her. My tears join the many others here who love and care.

CAROLC--I wish we could all spend our last day surrounded by the people we love and lots of good food. I hope the support of these people around here help you as much as they have helped Pat and I through the tough times. My heart goes out to you and my thoughts are with you.

NAEMANSON--You were my greatest cheerleader and I am so grateful. It must have worked because I'm doing better all the time. I look forward to meeting you in the real world someday.

SINSULL--I must admit that I was never a Porshe not even in my finest hour. I consider myself more of a Dodge Dart(1966 model) complete with plywood floorboard to cover the rust and lots of oxidised yellow paint. I have had moments of 1969 Cougar convertible(fire engine-red), but that was long, long ago. I am just grateful that those old slant-sixes were so darn hardy. If I can just get the rust out of the pipes and the antifreeze running I'll go forever. You are right Pat does need to get a grip, but the macaroni and cheese really was good.

KAT--Your phone calls brightened my day. We really need to talk more often. There really are no words to describe what you mean to both of us. You are a very special person and I feel so lucky that you consider me your friend. Thank you so much for everything. "Luv Ya Lots"

And all my love to all of you.

--Karen

Welcome home! It's so good to know that you made it through your ordeal. I like the idea of getting a raise while in your hospital bed. Think that would work for the rest of us?

Karenspaw is home and all is right with the world.

I'm glad you're home Karen and if that's what I have to do to get a raise, I don't think I'll bother.

Oh, Karendarlin', between you and Jeri in the Song for my mom thread of my sister's, you've all got me teary-eyed and very glad-hearted. Thank you and we will talk more, I promise. Things are even calmer here now that we know you are home. There's some people just shouldn't ever be apart.

Karen,

I'm so glad to hear that you're home and doing well. Thanks for your kind and loving thoughts. Yes, the wonderful people of this amazing place have helped me tremendously.

My only regret is that you don't spend more time here talking to us yourself. It seems like you would be an asset to this place (which of course you are, as Pat/Spaw's other half).

Take care of yourself,

Carol

Thank Goodness you are back. If you check the posts for the last month, you'll see that Pat's contributions have fallen off tremendously - so much for "a million in 2000". Things can get back to normal now. Hug the boys and Spaw. Kiss the bird, the cat, the dogs, and whatever else has taken up residence. And remember "There's no place like home!" Welcome back, Karen.

Welcome home Karen. But no more of this kind of crap. You need to find another way to make 'Spaw appreciate you that doesn't involve hospitals.

Welcome home, Karen. Now, just between us, don't act too well too soon- let Pat keep up the good work of nurturing, cooking, and all the other good stuff he's been doing- relax and enjoy it all!

Glad to hear you're home and feeling better. Like everyone says, don't push too hard too fast. Listen to your body and it won't lead you wrong. Of course, don't let Pat baby you too much either. Unless you are really enjoying, though. In that case, milk it for all it's worth! **BG**

So pleased for you all...no holiday busyness, now. Let people do for you. Cut engagement to lights, sound, food and 'Spaw. And whatever you enjoy. But no drudgery.
