Does anyone recall the words to a song, the main refrain of which was -

"tell me a story tell me a story

you gotta give in so I'll be good.
Tell me a story then I'll go to bed"

Was it sung by "my son the folk singer"? I can't recall. Thanks for the help.

Hmmmm. I thought it was, "Tell me a story, or I won't go to bed." Before you brought it up, I guess I had thought it just came up through my own family in Detroit. I guess it must have an origin somewhere, and probably not from the Offer Family of Detroit. Do you think somebody could get a PhD out of researching that one?

I think it's kind of like those camp songs that you thought came from your very own talented counselors at your very own wonderful camp:

I'm SURE they musta learned it from my dad...

There's a sound clip of the Frankie Laine recording here (click). It says the songwriter is Gilkyson - I imagine that's Terry Gilkyson.
