Today marks the 20th anniversary of the death of John Lennon. May we always remember John not only for his music but for his attempts to make the world a better place to live.

Thanks, Steve. While I was packing for our recent move, I found the old Playboy Interview magazine which had come out that week; the People Magazine Tribute Issue, and several newspaper accounts I'd saved.

My friend and I were in such shock, we left work for the day, drove out to the ranch with a bottle of something and drank the afternoon and half the night away, singing and grieving, not only for him, but for another loss of our generation as a whole.

Even though we lived thousands of miles apart after that, she and I always telephoned one another on this day, as we will do, today.

Imagine.....

I remember I was numb for days. It was during finals week too, which made it hard to take tests but somehow I managed.

and every song we played was for the late, great johnny ace....

it is, of course, a sad day to remember, but since he was never a part of my developing psyche, I am just a bit surprised to find that the anniversery is treated like the Kennedy dates..etc....hard to understand for an old curmudgeon like me, but I guess it hit many people VERY hard...

It was the only assassination of anybody I cared about when I was at an impressionable age. Sure, he wasn't president or anything, but my grandfather wasn't president either, and his death affects me a lot more than JFK's.
