Lyr Add: Wonderful World (parody about G W Bush)

08 Dec 00 - 04:10 PM (#353857)
Subject: Lyr Add: WONDERFUL WORLD (parody about G W Bush)
From: Wesley S

This was sent to me by E-mail. I don't know the author. It's sung to the tune of Sam Cooke's "Wonderful World"

Don't know much about history,
don't know much foreign policy
Don't remember how I got through school,
But I'm sure I didn't break the rules
But what's it matter 'cause my granny says,
"Boy if you want to you can be the prez"
And what a wonderful world this will be.

Don't know much about the women's vote,
don't know much about the bill I wrote
Don't know much about the foreign vets,
I've never voted for them yet
But I do know if your dad tries hard,
he can get you in the National Guard,
and what a wonderful place that can be

Now I never claimed to be an "A" student,
but what's wrong with "C's"
And maybe by knowing the names of my cabinet,
I can win their love for me

Don't know much about air pollution,
don't know much about the Constitution
Don't know much about the economy,
it never much affected me
But there's one thing that I know for sure,
if the rich stay rich - the poor stay poor,
and what a wonderful world this can be.

Don't know much about the national debt,
I've never had to pay one yet
If we need to we can sell the states,
to the Japanese at discount rates
But I do know that if things go bad,
Dick and I can always call my dad,
and what a wonderful world this will be

Here's an edited version of a projected inaugural speech by President Bush (from The Economist of London - a pretty Conservative publication, incidentally):

My Fellow Armenians. As I stand here today, I think we can agree that the past is over.

I want to bring America together. I don't believe a president should be choosing who are the right Ameriocans and who are the wrong Americans. All of us are together, white or wrong, black or right.

I say there's a cost to inaction. I haven't done the acrobatics, but it's probably around a trillion dollars.

I know you would rather be watching TV, and so would I, so I will draw to a confusion. My message is: I will get things done. I will inspire and untie.

Thank you and God help America.

Subject: Lyr Add: BUSH INAUGURAL THEME SONG (Joel Landy)
From: Jim Dixon

I started out trying to find the author of the above song, but I gave up because there are just too many copies on the Internet, and I don't want to take time to look at them all. I did, however, find this other version:

BUSH INAUGURAL THEME SONG
(Words, Joel Landy, 2000. Tune, Sam Cooke, "(What a) Wonderful World")

Don't know much about history.
Don't know much foreign policy.
I don't know the names of men I kill,
Or implications of the seats I fill.
But I do know who has paid my way.
For corporate interests and the NRA,
What a wonderful world this will be.

Don't know much about ecology.
Cutting trees has always worked for me.
And I don't know about the women's vote,
And I can't think of any bill I wrote.
But there's one thing that I know for sure:
If the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor,
What a wonderful world this will be.

I never claimed to be an A student,
But I don't have to be.
If you have deep pockets and sell nuclear rockets,
You're a friend of my family.

Don't know much about air pollution.
Don't know much about the Constitution.
Don't care much for solar energy.
There's nothing in it for my friends and me.
And if we can't find any on our soil,
We can go to war and get more oil,
And what a wonderful world this will be.

Don't know much about the driving rules.
Don't know much about the public schools.
Don't know why the inner cities fail.
Why can't folks get dad to pay for Yale?
And if the issues causing you to lose
Are never covered in the evening news,
What a wonderful world this will be.

I never claimed to be an A student,
But I don't have to be.
If you have a brother who's the Florida Governor,
The result's no mystery.

Don't know much about history.
Don't know much foreign policy.
Don't know much about the national debt.
I never had to pay one off yet.
But I do know who has paid my way.
For special interests in the USA,
What a wonderful world this will be.

Oh, that song! I thought this was going to be a parody of "What a Wonderful World" (the song Louis Armstrong sang, that was featured in the movie "Good Morning Vietnam").

I can hear it now: "I see oil of black..."

Of course you all realize that, in the current climate, satirizing Bush is tantamount to treason?

Don't know much about the King of France
Or where the Secret Service put my pants
I never had a lot of luck in Oil
And reading bills I sign just seems like toil
But I know about the bottom line
And that "folksy touch" is mine all mine
And what a Wonderful World this should be

How's this for treason?

The President is a stupid, war-mongering, racist fool who does not really understand the complexities of running a taco stand in Matemorros, let alone the U.S. of A.

As for everyone who started waving the flag on September 12th, they're the worst kind of patriot. I have been flying a flag every patriotic holiday since I grew up. My father did the same until he passed away. It sickens to me to see all the flags flying on people's cars - now many of them are starting to fall apart. They just don't get it.

Sorry for the rant.

How about his 30% tax on us? A tariff on imported steel so he can buy the electoral votes in the steel producing states. Economic or political?

When do the black Mariahs start to roll, picking up innocent people and carting them off?

Answer: They've started with the people who look and sound like they come from the Middle East. The only question now is when do they start to pick us up because we dare to question the government.

Blackcatter, I saw one of those ragged flags the other day. All I could think of was the penalty for BURNING the flag should be looked at again. When will they realize that burning the flag can be as patriotic as raising it. Questioning and flauting authority is an important act. You can cause as much damge to your country by staying silent as you can by spying for the enemy. And we have far too many silent people around us now.

Naemanson: Right now, there is no penalty for burning the flag. The Supreme Court ruled that it was a legitimate form of political expression. Is this the decision that you think should be "looked at again"?

I don't think that's really what you meant.

Jim,

I'm sure Naemanson was meaning the continued attempts to make it illegal, including the work of some people who wish to run and "end around" the Supreme Court by passing a national amendment. I think that those people who are against flag burning as a protest are generally in favor of the disposal of a flag by burning.

Once again, it's intention, not action that bothers people.

I know there is no legal means to stop people from burning the flag. However it is frowned on by some people which is the reason for burning it. It gets the attention of the media. Unfortunately the act of burning the flag overshadows the message.

I work in a very conservative environment. When I bring up my concerns about the fascist bent of our current administration people ask me if I'd rather have terrorists on my doorstep. They have bought George's line that the world is full of enemies out to blow us all up. I would rather risk the terrorists than the Black Mariahs.

More confirmation about Dubya's wonderful world.

I am AGOG

"Incredibly, President George W. Bush told French President Jacques Chirac in early 2003 that Iraq must be invaded to thwart Gog and Magog, the Bible's satanic agents of the Apocalypse.

"Honest. This isn't a joke. The president of the United States, in a top-secret phone call to a major European ally, asked for French troops to join American soldiers in attacking Iraq as a mission from God.

"Now out of office, Chirac recounts that the American leader appealed to their "common faith" (Christianity) and told him: "Gog and Magog are at work in the Middle East. ... The biblical prophecies are being fulfilled. ... This confrontation is willed by God, who wants to use this conflict to erase his people's enemies before a New Age begins."

"This bizarre - seemingly deranged - episode happened while the White House was assembling its "coalition of the willing" to unleash the Iraq invasion. Chirac says he was boggled by Bush's call, and "wondered how someone could be so superficial and fanatical in their beliefs."

Listen to Les Barker's "Advice to George Bush". The upshot of that speech was a refusal for him to enter the U.S. It really hit home - brilliant!
