Help: Mel Bay mando tape

Subject: Mel Bay mando tape
From: Gypsy

Hi out there, have a friend who purchased Mel Bays Anthology of madolin music, only to find that they no longer make the accompanying tape! Horrors! Does anyone out there have it? Would be more than happy to send a blank tape, and postage for a copy. Thank you so much! Please pm for address, etc.

Well, Gypsy, no false hopes here, but I do live in an area where one of the music stores (who never throw anything away and generally run about 20 years behind the times) might just have it. I'll call them all next Thursday, when I have a day off, and see if they can dig one up. Will let you know before the new millennium.

Good ol' Mel...

Sarah

Sarah, thank you so much for the effort. Will pay money to get this for #1 mando player in group...he reads tab, which don't help much when you don't have the tune. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Blessings on your head for the effort you are making for us. Really appreciate it! So sorry that you had to work today, it was way too pretty to be inside. Tomorrow will be wonderful and bright, and you will have a great time! :>)

I'll email my mom tomorrow and see if that's the Mando tape that she has...

No promises though eh...

Oh, Clinton, I hope so...

Gypsy, I only got about half my calls made, and the rotters called me in to work AGAIN! (There seems to be a disgusting managment philosophy going on right now that precludes any employee working less than 40 hours a week. If we have a holiday, they manage to call us in for overtime later that week. If we take vacation, we will wind up down there the next weekend. It's un-American.)

Will make the rest of the calls tomorrow. I've done the local boys, no luck; will check the area small-town places tomorrow. There's always a chance.

Maybe we should get all the 'Cats to contact the Mel Bay folks and ask about that tape and why doesn't it come with the book anymore...

Sarah

Sarah, you are a love! Sorry that you are working too much. I remember those days well! You are right, maybe a united Cat front would make MelBay reissue. Didn't have any luck when I called. Clinton, will hold high hopes that your Mom has the tape. Will mail her blank of her choice to replace the copy. Thank you both so much!

Gypsy,

No luck so far -- I got most of the area towns, but a few stores seem to be closed due to weather (record snows last week), so will have to try them next week.

I'll give the mandolin players I know a call, too. They're mostly bluegrass around here, but who knows?

First, I think I'll drop a line to

email@melbay.com

(Someone want to make a link of that, please?)

and ask them why I can't get the old tape or a CD...

Somehow, We Shall Prevail!

If others will do the same, they might think it's a movement (sorry, Arlo).

Bluegrass mando method is terrific! We have that one too! Anyway, heard from MelBay, with the expected response, but they pointed me in a few directions. Have emailed one, and we'll see what happens. This site is cool....can't do a blueclicky (admit, and shame the devil, too lazy to LEARN!) but here is the site:

Wouldn't it be easier to find the tunes else where? There must be midi's or mp3's of them somewhere no?

why not post the tune list and we'll see what we can find that way?

Gypsy,

You highlight what you want to copy, hold down the Control key and hit C: That's Copy.

Go to where you want to insert the information, hold down the Control key and hit V: That's Paste. Very handy for putting the html "br" at the end of the line of lyrics in Mudcat.

Am still waiting to hear from most of the musicians I've e-mailed about this, keeping the thought that they're looking for us, too (or I'll hurt them).

Finally found the tape. Actually, our player did. Now we know why MelBay discontinued it.....the player on the tape was less than wonderful. Thanks to all that helped on this one!
