I'm looking for some info on the Irish singer Richie Kavanagh, whom I brought up in an earlier thread. Fer instance. Is he a guitarist? How popular is he across the pond in Ireland? I know he is a very funny man in his lyrics, and maybe not pure folk, but the production of his music is superb on the recordings, lots of fine musicianship and harmony vocals. Does he play with a steady band or solo? And how in the world does he sing two parts, at different times of course, in concert. His 'Johnny Fagan' voice is really quite good in my opinion, I laugh just hearing it come in on a song. So clever. Anyway, I've been provided with some info from the lovely Quincy here on the 'cat, and was hoping to discover some more from other sources. Any help over there ladies and gents? The voices are all him and he manages both live, how, I don't know.He is popular in rural Ireland in cabarets and at country shows etc. He would almost never be heard on national radiobut is a regular on Ireland's local radio stations. Oh yes, I almost forgot, he's considered a comedy act. (as if you didn't know) |
