08 Jan 01 - 06:10 PM (#371152) Subject: RE: DigieCam ?? from Sorcha From: katlaughing Looks like it is as good as we've got Sorcha and we paid a lot more, as we bought early, from Radio Shack. The only thing I don't like it there is no flash. I'll ask Rog to take a look, too, as we were thinking of getting one for the top of the computer for video phone calls, but Rog said those types cna be had for under $50... |

08 Jan 01 - 08:33 PM (#371237) Subject: RE: DigieCam ?? from Sorcha From: katlaughing It does a lot more than our early model does, Sorcha, on second look. Rog says it doesn't look bad for that price. I think we may even look into it. Thanks for posting the link. BTW, I would be happy to scan some pix for you and get them up in the photo thread, if you want to send some over. kat |

08 Jan 01 - 08:49 PM (#371240) Subject: RE: DigieCam ?? from Sorcha From: Sorcha Oh, I know you would, kat, but I just get tired of being a pain in the butt, ya know? I know I could have KIS (whoever) develop to disc, and I could print, but that sounds like a pain, too. Thanks for the advice. |

08 Jan 01 - 10:49 PM (#371278) Subject: RE: DigieCam ?? from Sorcha From: alison If you want to use it with Paltalk.. they haven't fixed it up yet...... althought they said "maybe in the new year" I have tried... and have asked in their tech support rooms..... the video looks like it is streaming at your end.. but at the receiver's end they see jpegs (freeze frames) which change every 9 sec or so.... (so they usually get pics of you in the middle of a word.. or eating... or yelling at the kids.... *grin*) also with the video in paltalk... I can't find a way of using the mic at the same time.. looks like you only get the option of video + text.......... Microsoft Netmeeting still works best for sending pics.. but I don't like the sound quality you get with it.... I did a link up with my family at Xmas... my dad and Gran were delighted to be able to see and hear the kids over the computer.......... but we had to use Netmeeting..... what I'm saying is.. if you're hoping to use it with paltalk.. you might be better to wait until they sort it out..... slainte alison |

08 Jan 01 - 10:57 PM (#371280) Subject: RE: DigieCam ?? from Sorcha From: Sorcha Actually, I just want to use it to be able to take "digital" pictures and post them on someplace like PhotoLoft......I don't really care about the video/audio features.......not sure I could understand them anyway. Thanks, alison. |

09 Jan 01 - 12:55 PM (#371512) Subject: RE: DigieCam ?? from Sorcha From: GUEST,Russ Might be a good way to become familiar with digital photography, but 128 pictures in 8MB of memory translates into very low resolution. It would be best to find someone in your neighborhood who sells that model (a computer store like CompUSA might be your best bet) and take it for a test drive. The lack of a flash could be an issue you take most of your photos indoors. |

09 Jan 01 - 01:01 PM (#371516) Subject: RE: DigieCam ?? from Sorcha From: MMario *IF* and it's a big if, the camera is capable of higher resulution pictures, I would say it is a good buy. it's about half the price of the one my B-I-L got last Christmas. Ours will take 128 at low res, 32 at medium and 8 at high. |

10 Jan 01 - 10:02 AM (#372145) Subject: RE: DigieCam ?? from Sorcha From: Sorcha Thanks to everyone who helped. I have discovered that the Staples store has them in stock, so I can drive 30 miles and get answers to all the questions. I also discovered that this is not a "Special Price"--$149 is the regular list price. Next time I go to Scottsbluff, I'll check it out. Again, thanks! |

10 Jan 01 - 08:27 PM (#372601) Subject: RE: DigieCam ?? from Sorcha From: catspaw49 There are a load of digitals now appearing for pretty cheap prices......Not a load of features, but the "Brownie Hawkeye" equivalent for snapshots and the stuff you're talking about doing Sorch. I either don't or can't use the boo-koo features on my Nikon Super Belchfire whatever it is camera. I thinks its capable of providing high quality sex if you use the right program. But here's one you might check into. Does most of the good stuff, has a flash, has software, decent enough resolution for snaps, and costs less than I spend in Maalox. Spaw |

10 Jan 01 - 09:06 PM (#372618) Subject: RE: DigieCam ?? from Sorcha From: Sorcha Cool! will check it out......(have you tried taking cayenne capsules instead of Maalox? Worked for the Mr.--he hasn't had a Gaviscon in 2 years. Only seems to work for them what needs it. Gives me bad heartburn.......) |

10 Jan 01 - 10:59 PM (#372659) Subject: RE: DigieCam ?? from Sorcha From: Sorcha Spaw, question--those photos you have been posting, are they from this camera? It is $100 cheaper than the "real deal" offered by PalTalk. Does it have a flash? The ad you sent me to offered it for $49.00........true? Is it portable, like can I take it to the lake? |

10 Jan 01 - 10:59 PM (#372660) Subject: RE: DigieCam ?? from Sorcha From: katlaughing Hey that looks like a good deal, Spaw! Even has flash! Did I mention our dinosaur model has no flash? Nada, no lights camera, dark interior shots, even in big sky countree. Hey, remember tapping the old flashbulbs to make them rattle...that was so kewl! Does anyone use them nowadays? |

10 Jan 01 - 11:44 PM (#372690) Subject: RE: DigieCam ?? from Sorcha From: catspaw49 Sorcha, I have a Nikon 800 with a ton of exotic features that shoots at unbelievable resolution at 2= megapixels and a lot of other mumbo jumbo.....But the shots you see on the net were shot at the same resolution as that camera. With software, the Nikon cost us about 700 clams. I'd personally consider buying thios camera because at taht price, you have very little to lose. It is small and you can take it along anywhere, has a flash, holds about 30 shots in memory, comes with software.........seems like a helluva' deal and I'm tempted to order one myself simply because at times I hate to take the Nikon out where I might lose or screw it it up. Like I said before, its like the Brownie Hawkeye of digitaldom. At 59 bucks...what the hell? BTW, I no longer take antacids because I no longer need the suckers anymore. And...most peppers, even habaneros, are good for digestion although it wouldn't seem so. Good for the heart too, believe it or not. Of course if they could fix heart problems entirely, I would be the healthiest SOB in the world 'cause I eat loads of hot peppers. Spaw |
