BS: Visited by OldScratch

Late last night he crawled through my window. He was giggling like a damned school kid. I, startled from my sleep, shouted "Who are you?" He continued to giggle. He reeked of cheap whiskey. "Hey, I'm the devil and I wanna make a deal with you". Then he jumped on my bed and started choking me, begging me to accept his offer. I managed to let him know that I was interested. He backed off and said, "Let me sleep with your woman and I will give you an evening with Sleepy John Estes, just you and him, picking, drinking and grinning." I readily agreed, especially since he wasn't wanting my soul or something important like that. He asked me to leave the room and let him do his do with her, and he would arrange the Sleepy John thing later. I left the room and spent the rest of the night on my sofa. It all seemed so reasonable to me last night, but when I awoke this morning, I realized that the devils voice sounded a lot like old Homer Buford from down the road.

Do you suppose that I have been had? Should I expect an evening with Sleepy John?

Any suggestions?

You're a very fine writer. There has been a lot of good fiction written here. How about if you join yourself up here proper and start a story people can carry forward with you?

This would be a good start on one, except for the last three lines. Maybe someone will continue the story anyhow.

Great idea, Praise. I have not seen that done before. Has it been? Oh, the last I heard of you,(I do not visit here often enough) You were vowing not to return. I am glad you did. I have enjoyed your input in the past.

Esme Doer of things left her husband Mr. Doer of things, and went to live down the Road with Homer Buford. Homer was a good lover, and all Mr. Doer of things ever thought about was Sleepy John Estes.

Esme and Homer had three children. Being a musical bunch, they formed a family band. Esme on accordion, Homer on Stroh violin, Lila and Daphne, the two oldest daughters doing vocals, and little Claudie, on cymbals and other percussion.

They traveled around the canals of Europe and England in the barge they had made into a home, joyfully spreading the beautiful sound of their music wherever they went.

Mr. Doer of things is still waiting for his evening with Sleepy John Estes. I hope, if he ever gets it, it will have been worth the trouble.

I heard a rumor that Mr. DOT did have a night with Sleepy John but you know there's a reason why Sleepy John is called that, so it didn't amount to much.

(Carol, I can see Little Claudie, that's perfect!)

DOT, thanks, 'nuff said. Join-- we can PM!
