16 Jan 01 - 02:21 PM (#375492) Subject: Still another 'Gentle Annie' From: late 'n short I'm aware of the DT and Stephen Foster versions but I'm looking for another version written and sung by Tommy Makem. I can probably get the lyrics down by listening to it but I can never figure out chords? Can anyone help? Dan |

16 Jan 01 - 03:50 PM (#375575) Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Still another 'Gentle Annie' From: Zebedee You can find the lyrics at this site. Be warned though, the page author has embedded a wav file of the song as a background sound. Arrrghh! Hence the page takes ages to open. Quite how long, I'm not sure as I gave up. Press 'stop' after the lyrics have loaded. Sorry I can't find the chords. Ed |

16 Jan 01 - 04:29 PM (#375600) Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Still another 'Gentle Annie' From: GUEST,Allan S. There appears to be 3 versions of the song 1. Gentle Annie- Stephen Foster 2. An Austrailion version. Probably brought there from the US 3. THe Carter Family has a song on the Cassette of there complete Victor recordings 1929-1930 called "When the spring time comes again" The liner notes as follows "Sara recalls just another old song, When The Springtime comes Again was the one she knew as Little Annie. She learned it frim a neighbor of A.P's who gave them the Ballet" 9i.e. the written word or printed lyrics0 |
16 Jan 01 - 06:12 PM (#375696) Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Still another 'Gentle Annie' From: Malcolm Douglas The Makem song is not related to Foster's or its Australian variants, but does have the same title. Be careful of that site with the embedded soundfile, by the way; it crashed my browser trying to load a non-existent plugin, and froze the whole blasted computer! Malcolm |
