Help: Zumzeaux - Blazing Fiddles

Calling all 'Catters: I have a CD called Blazing Fiddles, by a group called Zumzeaux. Tracks include Bluegrass, a french-Canadian tune, Reels, A Finnish Polka and others whose origins I don't know. I really like the music, & would like to get more Zumzeaux recordings if such exist. Anybone heard of them? (Barnes & Noble haven't) Would also appreciate recommendations for music that's similar. Eddie

Looks like that is the only one ever made. Seems the group disbanded, but they performed at the Cropredy festival in 1989, and there is a CD available for that. You might search for "Andrew Cronshaw", apparently the Leader of the band. Sorry this is all I could find. (If you want the Cropredy Festival site, post again and I will link you to it, OK?)

Thanks Sorcha, Shame they broke up, this is real foot-tapping music. I'll check on Andrew Cronshaw. If you could do that link (or just let me have the URL I'd appreciate it.

That's about all that was worthwhile, sorry. Oh, there IS another album, called Wolf at the Door, but I only found it on the Italian site.

Hi guys, Chris Haigh was one of the fiddle players, and Netti Vandraager was in the band too. Chris Haigh now plays with the Kremlinaires, amongst others. Netti and her husband Bart tour together nowadays. Both produce music with similarities to Zumzeaux.

I did a google search for Zumzeaux. Their label was "Black Pig", and there are copies of the vinyl album "Wolf at Your Door" still available in the UK. Excellent album, I have it myself and thoroughly recommend it to all. I play fiddle myself, and when I was a youngster my sister gave me this album - this record was a huge influence on me when I were a young 'un (I still love it and play it to this day).

They were regular guests at the old Chestnuts Club in Walthamstow. IIRC the other member was Bernard O'Neill on Bass

It's an old thread, but I might as well add that you're missing Ashley Drees (cittern, mandolin, percussion) and a later member, Frank Kilkelly (guitar). Andrew Cronshaw wasn't in the band, but he may have recorded the album/s?

Neti now lives (and plays) in New Orleans.
