21 Jan 01 - 01:56 PM (#379061) Subject: Lyr Add: THAT'S THE BAG I'M IN (Fred Neil) From: Sarah2 Here they are:
THAT'S THE BAG I'M IN
I burnt my fingers on the coffee pot;
You know, last night as I was trippin' down the street,
I miss my connections and I'm late for work again;
Juke box playin' the same old melody, (Repeat first verse)
...'Cause that's the kind of bag I'm in; *** I'm not absolutely certain about the "nickle" line; he slurs the first few words, until the word "cop" -- but that's what it sounds like after playing it several times. Art, this is the first CD issue of Neil's, a conglomeration of most of the cuts on "Fred Neil," "Sessions" and "Other Side of This Life," along with the single he cut for Capitol with the Nashville Street Singers and previously unreleased cuts of "Sweet Mama," "Trouble in Mind," "December's Dream," "Ride Stormy Weather," "How Long Blues/Drown in Tears," and "The Other Side of This Life." It's a great CD. But I'm with you -- I'd like to see "Bleeker and McDougal" out again, as well as my favorite (listed above). But, hey, maybe if more Neil fans buy this one, he'll do more reissuing... Sarah |
21 Jan 01 - 06:35 PM (#379226) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Bag I'm In From: Stewie Art, 'Bleeker and MacDougal' is available on CD on a Japanese label, but very expensive - $US25.49. It can be obtained through CDNow. To purchase at that ridiculous price, one would have to want it desperately! --Stewie. |

22 Jan 01 - 12:04 AM (#379396) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Bag I'm In From: Stewie Sarah, I don't know the label. I just remembered having seen it on offer at CDNow. It's still there, together with other Japanese reissues of his albums at horrendous prices: --Stewie. |
22 Jan 01 - 12:10 AM (#379398) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Bag I'm In From: Stewie I didn't read far enough. The label is given in the Dirty Linen article following the track listing: Elektra/East West Japan Inc. |
28 Jan 01 - 11:37 AM (#384218) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Bag I'm In From: Sarah2 Stewie, Thank you, thank you! Yes, the prices are a genuine gouge; I guess they know their Fred Neil fans. There goes my Christmas bonus... (Sorry I've been away in the real world and didn't thank you before.) Thread creep: Saw in an old FLAMING thread you were asking about Tim Henderson songs in general. PM me for info if you're still looking. Sarah |
