Lyr Req: Glenlyon Lament (Hugh S. Roberton)

I'm wondering if anyone's got the lyrics for this song as Corries sings it. Would also like to have the lyrics of Kings farewell. Thanks, Hagard

The second song you mention may perhaps be  King Fareweel  It was made by Andy Hunter from bits of traditional songs and a broadside ballad.

It is this song indeed. But, alas, Glenlyon lament still eludes me...

Hello Hagard,

I've wrote out the words to you and yet I don't know if you've got them or not.

I you have then please tell me and if not then I can give you them.

I think it's rude that you ask people for lyrics and they go out of their way to get you them and then they hear no reply from the person who posted request.

Hey Tom,

I'll thank you for them, I've wondered after them for years. Thanks a lot.

Tom, I have had Roberton's little book for years, but I have absolutely no recollection of how I came by it. I love the descriptions of how the songs should be sung: 'Glenlyon Lament' - 'With serene beauty and deep feeling, never dragged'.

As I recall The Corries do this song sung against the drones of a bagpipe. I believe its on Strings and Things. I recall very little medoly being played but what melody is there s the melody sung by Ronnie Browne. Some of the best vocal harmonies sung by Ronnie Browne and Roy Williamson on this song. Two remarkable voices making a really simple song a thing of exceptional quality.
