for those who care...a page on Spam stats and addresses

fun to know, even if you are not a crusader..(seems UUNet is by FAR the worst offender and carrier)

Will have to check this out. The other day when I got to work it seemed as if someone had been using my computer and ever since I get the most obnoxious Spam! Really vulgar gross stuff I always knew was out there but never had any interest in... in fact, I've actually been shocked, shocked at some of what I've gotten lately... and we supposedly have a firewall!

troll,

I don't think you need one with a dial-up connection. If so try this site. Its free for home use: http://www.zonelabs.com Fairly easy to download and install.

Mrrzy, a firewall is not a spam filter.
Troll, a firewall is supposed to stop intruders gaining access to your computer via your internet connetion and you do need one even with a dial up connection.

One word of warning: I was sucessfully hacked in the Hearme General Chat room while running Zone Alarm. Fortunately, it appears that the person who did it was just showing off but he gave my IP address out to the whole room.

I like the SpamCop site's host tracker; I use it to get the e-mail addresses to report spammers to so I can get their accounts terminated. ('Course they'll just get another...but hey, I can try...). Plus, it'll tell me if someone already got the spammer nuked, so I can delete that one and go on to the next spam.
