I used to want a BBC B and the Dragon did attract interest me....just thinking, those days - I'm sure there was something called an Acorn Atom that I wanted to play with. Here's one... the first machine Hotpoint gave me was something called an Avitar - it used the terminal connected to the main frame and I could switch between that and this thing and load CP/M and then Wordstar (3 I think) on it... Never touched a mac though... Jon |

I have an Apple Performa 5400 (at home), a Dell Latitude laptop (work and home) and a fully working 1989/1990ish vintage Acorn Archimedes. Of these the Acorn is by far the most innovative and interesting computer and I still use it for DTP. It's a pity the power of M*******t put paid to any real success to manufacturers like Acorn who first introduced RISC chips and where software was beautifully and compactly written in machine code. mcmoo |

My old Mac LC520--now THAT was only good for email and Mudcat! The iMac will go most places on the web, and when I do run into trouble, I think it's cause I'm using aol instaed of a standard browser. I can do icq with my iMac, if there's ever any chatting going on there besides the Radio Show chat. I am horrifed to learn about the sweat-shop/poorly paid labor; is that really true????? My machine is still in the shop unfortunately and no idea when I will get it back... it is the least of my problems this week...lost a very dear friend in a car crash a week ago Friday and am still in shock. more on that later perhaps.... anyway take care all and talk with you all soon i hope... peg |
