Furthermore what is the difference of elementary school childrens' range with the range of teenagers of ages 12-15 years olds and of teenagers of 15-18 years olds? |

02 Feb 01 - 12:33 PM (#388354) Subject: RE: Range of 6 years olds From: Tinker Peach, I think we need a little more detail. Do you mean average vocal range for singing? Or are you looking for behavioral, growth, or cognition norms? The question is so general it invites all kinds of answers.... Tinker |

02 Feb 01 - 12:46 PM (#388369) Subject: RE: Range of 6 years olds From: wdyat12 Wait a minute Peach! You sound like you're either writing a thesis or a lesson plan for a wierd role-playing game with the kids. There are all kinds of ranges with children and young adults; Physical, emotional, cognitive, etcetera. However, with chickens it's only a physical distance thing. Which range are we talking about here? |

02 Feb 01 - 12:56 PM (#388388) Subject: RE: Range of 6 years olds From: MMario Of which you have recieved several already. My first inclination was to say most 6 year olds range between 2191 days and 2556 days old - but realized you did mean vocal range. 6 year olds are mainly going to have a treble range - the 12 to 15 year olds are going to be a mixed bag and so are the 15-18 year olds. Some of your oldest group may have voices that are still settling down to an adult range - others may have more or less stable voices. the 12-15 year old age group will probably have the most variation in vocal range - and it may vary from minute to minute!!!! |

02 Feb 01 - 02:51 PM (#388531) Subject: RE: Range of 6 years olds From: GUEST,Jan G Most 6 year olds can sing a comfortable Major sixth, some a good octave, and some beyond. It depends on their training, etc. I like to stay from B flat (below mid. C) to C above mid. C as a MAXIMUM, with C - A as the most comfortable range. Encourage them to use a "singing" rather than a "speaking" range, and they'll have no trouble learning to use their head voices. Watch very chromatic songs...half steps are a killer. HTH - Jan |
