02 Feb 01 - 11:06 PM (#388950) Subject: Thought for the day - February 3, 2001 From: katlaughing We never know where two or more threads of our lives may converge with those of others, interweaving to make such beautiful things as children, art, books, and music. Two years and a couple of weeks ago, my mom passed away. A year and a couple of months later, my sister, "bet", posted a thread here about working in her garden, which really was mom's garden, as she'd lived with bet and worked in it a lot before she died. A few months later, Mudcatter Jeri lets me know she's turned bet's words into a song and a day or so later she's got a marvelous tune for it, too. Then, a few days ago, near the 2nd anniversary of mom's letting go, IvanB sent me a PM to let me know he was going to sing Jeri's song, "My Mom's Garden" in his upcoming Mudcat Concert. Last night, I cried my eyes out while this wonderful, kind Mudcatter sang this song...with beautiful backup of his own "cyber-clones", with Jeri listening along with many of our other mudcat friends (bet was unable to be there,)and I marvelled, once again, at this thing we call the Mudcat and its wonderful denizens. Then, too, I marvel at the kismet of life which brought us all to that point last night. Here's to good friends, moms, gardens, and the music they inspire! luvyakat |

So is Jeri for those of you who haven't met her. A sweet, gentle lady who is nobody's fool.Talented too. Kat I cried myself to sleep that night. Part envy at the relationship you have with your mother; part sorrow for losing mine before such a relationship was possible. Still tearing up now. Mary |

03 Feb 01 - 12:14 PM (#389178) Subject: RE: Thought for the day - February 3, 2001 From: Liz the Squeak I spent the day in my garden today, first time this year. I'm perpetually amazed at how many flowers I have at any given time. Six today in the depths of winter, a crocus, the rosemaries, some snowdrops, a violet, a rose and forsythia. And that doesn't include next door's verbena. Dad would be stunned at the amount of colour there is there. He went back to the earth 3 years ago on 29th Jan. LTS |

First we will see some croci will be maybe end of march, first of April, depending on the weather. Sins, I think you meant that I had, right? My mom "went back to earth" (I like that, Liz!) just over two years ago. I am sorry you didn't get to have that closeness with your mom. Some of my very earliest memories is going to get pansies and planting them, and then seeds for other plants, with my mom. Her family were pioneers and I know they grew things out of necessity, but my grandma loved flowers, too, and passed that gardening ability and love on to mom. Amergin, thanks, darlin'....here's one back atcha {{{{Amergin}}}} Thanks, JenEllen and Hollowfox. kat |

Yeah Charlie , where ever you are... and to Kats Mum and Sins too....and to {{{{Kat}}}}} and {{{{Sins}}} |

Mine is with me whenever I make a Yorkshire pudding. She sees to it that it is always perfect. We did have a few good times. |

I do feel that, too, there's times when it feels like meddling, though, and then's when I'd just as soon be left alone.*BG* Some day she has to quit worying about ehr children, esp. her son; she let worry rule her life and eventually kill her. Still love and miss her, though. |
