Does any 1 know the lyrics to a song "Proud' it goes something like this
Millions of people living shoulder to shoulder
billions of people living older and older
watching the same sun, feeling the same wind blowing...
can't remember rest....But is says at the end:
I am proud of who I am,
    proud of where I am,
    proud of what I'm doin',
    proud of where I'm goin'
my life is my life, I have the power to be..
I will reach for my brass ring and pull it for me.
that's all I know plz help

Hey, that turned out to be an easy one. I went to www.google.come and searched for "millions of people living shoulder to shoulder" (in quote marks to get an exact phrase). Can't say who wrote or recorded it, however. I found it here (click) - watch out, there's an embedded WAV file that plays, or maybe you can download it here (right-click to download).

PROUD
(Teresa Jennings)
Billions of people living shoulder to shoulder
filling our planet, growing older and older.
Watching the same sun. Feeling the same wind blowing.
We are different and yet we're all the same.
Billions of faces, billions of names; were magical.
Like the snowflakes falling to the earth; individual.

Oh, I am proud of who I am. Proud of what I am.
Proud of where I'm goin'. Proud of what I'm doin'.
My life is my life. I have the power to be!
I can reach my own brass ring and pull it for me.

Billions of people living billions of stories.
Billions of lives with all our mystical glories.
Tracing the same stars; watching our own stars glowing.
I am one in my own right, following through.
I am unique in all that I do; original.q
Like the footprints forming in the sand: individual.

Oh, I am proud of who I am. Proud of what I am.
Proud of where I'm goin'. Proud of what I'm doin'.
My life is my life. I have the power to be!
I can reach my own brass ring and pull it for me.

Oh, yes, I'm proud of who I am. Proud of what I am.
Proud of where I'm goin'. Proud of what I'm doin'.
My life is my life. I have the power to be!
I can reach my own brass ring and pull it for me.

PROUD!!

I found a version of this song at another school site (http://www.sdhc.k12.fl.us/~crestwood.elementary/Pride_%20song.html) where it says "Adapted from 'Proud' by T. Jenninof."

I graduated from fifth grade yesterday and we sang this song. Everybody loved. We DID screw up a little though...

Publishing details are now available:

The song is PROUD by Teresa Jennings, published by Plank Road Publishing. Sheet music etc. is being offered for sale at MusicK8.com. There is also an MP3 sample on that page, enough to verify that it's the same song.

Our school is being forced to do this play, which isn't right. we don't like the fact that we have to sing songs like this. Maybe if this play was a bit different then we would not dislike it as much. Plus its from the 90's!!!!1

My class sang this song at Warford Elementary in Kansas City, Mo for our 5th grade graduation in 1993. Brings back so many memories :)

"What is the significance of the brass ring?"

That is lost in the deeper meaning of the lyrics.

Brass ring is from the old amusement merry go rounds where you grabbed the brass ring. You can still find this type of ride at Cedar Point in Ohio
