What's the difference between the two. I've been searching for a tenor guitar. (My dad used to play one.) Music store said they are no longer made, I need to go to a vintage store. they recommended I get a baritone uke. I did. but what is tha difference between them?

Dear Sharon, a tenor guitar is a four string, usually tuned in fifths: C G D A. It can be tuned like the top four strings of the guitar D G B E, which is the same as the ordinary guitar, and the baritone uke. Yours, Peter

I saw a tenor Harmony, in excellent condition, for $150 in a second-hand music shop last year. Almost bought it just for the novelty of it, but I really didn't know what to do with it.

I have an old Stella tenor guitar in excellent condition which I'd be willing to part with for $125. Neck's straight, no cracks or dings, frets all good, bridge not coming off. The number stamped on the inside is 3271 H929. I'm in Atlanta. E-mail me at dspease@rocketmail.com

Dear Sharon, I have a back issue (1996) of Acoustic Guitar that lists at least 12 manufacturers of tenor guitars in the United States. Pricy, I'll bet....Yours, Peter

You might try searching the catalog at Lark in the Morning. They have everything, and a lot of info.

Another difference, is the scale length. On a tenor guitar its about 22" to 23" while on a baritone uke, its like 19" or 20". So, the baritone ukue is a slightly smaller instrument.
