Hello,

I am looking for notes, chords, melodies anything that is usefull for a musician of this song:

Mna nah Eirann

I think the translation is "Blessing For Ireland". I am not quite shure. I found it on a compilation where d dozen pop and rock stars sing Irish Music. This version is sung by KATE BUSH. Are there any notes, midi files etc. of this song on the internet???

Thanks a million for Your help

"Mna na h-Eireann" means "The Woman of Ireland" and is a very popular tune as well as Gaelic song. You can all the info you're looking for right here. Enjoy!

Mna means women, and Fir means men - it's confused a lot of tourists over the years, because that's what you get written on outside the lavatories, to tell you which is which...

In episode three of RTE's series Aistear and Amhráin, some choice words were being spoken about this song Padraigin ní Usllachsin, for example, said she would never sing it. O'Risda's tune for it is beautiful but the words are far from singing the praise of women, let's put it that way.

See here.

Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin !!

There's a fascinating diversity of opinions in the programme "Aistear an Amhráin"
but it would be better to continue the discussion on one of the earlier threads, where the lyrics are given, and where the ethical question of the song's questionable taste has already at least been hinted at.
