Scotland will flourish by the sweat of our labour,
Let the Scots be a nation so proud of their heritage,
Let us govern our country wisely and fairly,
And let us be known for our kind hospitality, Cheers, Jim Mclean

14 May 11 - 10:12 PM (#3154264) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Scotland Will Flourish (The Corries) From: Ross Campbell Ian Jack in the Guardian, Saturday 14th May, 2011, suggests "Scotland Will Flourish" as an alternative anthem to the three informal Scottish anthems - Robert Burns's "Scots Wha Hae", Cliff Hanley's "Scotland the Brave" or Roy Williamson's "Flower of Scotland". Ian Jack's Guardian article A couple of lines from the song were lifted by Alec Salmond in his speech following the SNP's recent election success. I missed this song when the Corries were singing it, most internet lyric sites credit them but not the author, Ian Blacklaw Richardson (who actually signed with the Corries' publishing company) - and some strange interpretations proliferate. Thank goodness for the Mudcat (and Jim Maclean!) The Corries singing "Scotland Will Flourish" Ross |
