From: GUEST,Artie on the windowsill I took my revenge on my person when she took me to be "neutered", as the humans say: I made sure one of my 'bollocks' did not "drop", so she had to pay a higher fee to have the job done (heh heh heh).
But I must say that, as a feline of delicate aspect ( to use the disgusting term that humans do, I was the "runt" of my litter), it pleases me not to deign to engage in clawticuffs with those hulking, brutish toms who are so unrefined as to "mark" their meager territory while I have an entire human abode at my disposal! Therefore I've come to terms with my person on the subject of the unfortunate "neutering" incident, and she is of course my devoted servant for life.

"Posh"? Tut, tut, dear boy; I prefer to think of myself as possessing a certain dignified style. Oh, I enjoy a good romp with a bit of string or catnip as much as the next feline, but I'll quickly recover my composure and strike some elegant pose or other. I am ever mindful of our ancestry wherein we were worshipped by the more enlightened humans of a bygone era.
Alas, too few humans today recognize our superiority to them. This is the reason that I am so distressed by the petty squabbling and ear-ripping that goes on between the toms; their behavior is below their station, and does nothing to gain us the respect that is our due from the awkward, furless humans. ANON From Nova Scotian singer-songwriter Vince Morash – 11/11/95 Tune English Traditional: "All Around My Hat" I'M GONNA DROWN MY CAT C G C F/C G G7So fare ye well, wee puss, ye've piddled once too often, I'm off to buy a dog, who's good and well behaved; Ye never discriminated, the place where ye urinated, So "Rest in Pee" shall be the epitaph on yer grave. To get ye potty trained, I've struggled till me strength, Just like yer bladder drained – over walls, rugs and chairs; Yer metabolism's booming, ye produce more than ye're consuming, It's really quite beyond belief – so-o, pussy, say yer prayers. I'm gonna buy a bat, made of the finest willow, I'll put ye out with that, end me troubles with one blow; But I pity poor St. Peter, for when he comes to greet ye, Ye'll wait till he's not looking, then ye'll piss through his halo! See you in Kennebunk on Saturday afternoon. |

We'll be in that beautiful jungle, With birdies to chase through the leaves, And mice will be there in abundance, We'll snatch them whenever we please; There'll be no Pit Bulls in Heaven, No German Shepherds nor Chows, And all will be tuna and salmon, And cream drawn fresh from the cow.(CHO) We'll sleep on the softest of pillows, With Catnip to colour our dreams, And no one will dare to awake us, Until we have hatched all our schemes There'll be no thrown boots in Heaven, When up on the rooftops we sing And the door we go out, when it opens Will always lead out into Spring. (MMario) The toys will always be fun ones That scurry and scamper and hide, With fur we can sink all our claws in, And good things to eat inside. When we sharpen our claws on the sofa, Nobody cares if we shred and tear, And when WE want to get some attention A broad lap will always be there. (Lin in KS) The elm trees grow tall up in Heaven Just right for a hunter to lie Stretched out on a branch with his eyes shut In that home between green grass and sky With the smells of the earth in his nostrils And the feel of the bark 'neath his feet, And the screams and the shrieks of the songbirds In his ears, making music so sweet. (Lin in KS) The ladies all will be willing, The toms will all be debonair, The kittens will stay safe with Mother Until they no longer need care. There'll be no needles in Heaven, No dogs, no fear, no cars-- ust plenty of catnaps and grooming And singalongs under the stars.(Lin in KS) We'll never get bumped off the pillows Where cat hair galore we can shed Big Mama will never roll over Disturbing our nest by her head (Mag) She'll let us go out at All Hallow's (She's nervous because we're all black) We'll cruise with the kids scamming candy And collect little mice in our sack (Mag) She'll put back the cat door she took out Disgusted with what we brought home Our friends will drop through to visit Even if we're out on a roam.(Mag) Though no cat can make it to Heaven Till all of her nine lives are done, When you've used your sixth or seventh, Your Cat Heaven dreams have begun. There we chase butterflies through the cloud fields, And claw the celestial walls, For cats always seek out the highest perch, And Heaven's the loftiest of all! (Genie) Cheerily, Charley Noble |

From: Jim Dixon Just discovered this one: MY LITTLE KITTEN SUSIE, sung by Lonnie Johnson on her album "Losing Game," originally released 1960. This is true blues; it doesn't seem the slightest bit ironic or cute. There is a sound sample at Barnes & Noble ... ev'rything go wrong. Yes, she's my doctor when I'm sick. She's my comfort when ev'rything go wrong. She's my little kitten Susie. She has my true lovin' till I'm dead an' gone. She knows when I'm worried.... |

13 Nov 08 - 06:51 PM (#2493228) Subject: RE: Songs for Cats...Corrrrrrrr. From: GUEST,Jim P Well, as Bob Kanefsky tells it, he was in a group talking about Eric Bogel when someone said something like, "Can you believe that the same guy wrote 'Nobody's Moggy' and 'No Man's Land'?" To which someone replied, "Can you believe they're on the same album?" So naturally, Bob dediced that they should be the same song: No Moggy's Land |

05 Oct 11 - 02:36 PM (#3234416) Subject: RE: Songs for Cats - Corrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr From: Genie F.A.P.(FELINE AMERICAN PRINCESS) Lyrics By: Mercedes Lackey/ Leslie Fish (bluestar894) Music By: Mercedes Lackey/Leslie Fish (Tim P. Ryan) Aren't I kind to allow you to live in my house? Aren't I gracious to grant you the use of my chair? Aren't I wonderful when I give you a dead mouse? Aren't I utterly, totally, beyond compare? And don't you admire the virtues you see in marvelous, lovely, magnificent me-ow, me-e-e-ow-wow-wow, me-ow, me-e-e-ow? I will carefully shed just selected dark hairs when I'm lying on all the white laundry you did; And the white hairs will go, when I bother to lair on black velvet, were they can't be brushed off or hid. They looks so much better that way, you'll agree! They'll remind you of lovely, magnificent me-ow, me-e-e-ow-wow-wow, me-ow, me-e-e-ow. If you try to insist that I live on dry food, I will either look thin, and pathetic and sad, Or I just might do something disgusting and rude, such as eat it, and throw up all over your bed. Only chicken and liver and fish, naturally, are fit for the palate of marvelous me-ow me-e-e-ow-wow-wow, me-ow, me-e-e-ow. I really don't understand why you should look at anything else or have things in your hands, so I'll patiently lie on your papers or book to suggest that you treat me as my rank demands. You really should pet me when your hands are free. It's a privilege to fondle magnificent me-ow me-e-e-ow-wow-wow, me-ow, me-e-e-ow. Or, just when you're maddest at something I've done, I'll go do something else that's so touching or sweet, that's so charming, adorable, silly or fun it'll just knock the stockings right off of your feet. You know you can't win, so why fight it, you see? You know you're a sucker for marvelous me-ow me-e-e-ow-wow-wow, me-ow, me-e-e-ow. I know you're a sucker for marvelous me! |

05 Oct 11 - 06:06 PM (#3234539) Subject: RE: Songs for Cats...Corrrrrrrr. From: Genie Glad I could find it, Saul. (It's not that easy doing a forum search for "cat," since it will bring up everything that has that 3-letter sequence in it, e.g., "Mudcat," "Mudcatter," "catfish," "caterwauling," "cat house," etc. There's a Revolutionary War (American) song called "Poor Kitty Popcorn" that I think may be in the DT or forum but I haven't found it. It's a real tear-jerker. |
