Looking for the lyrics to the country song paper roses , I believe Marie Osmond sang it . There are at least two country songs by this title , this song has the line ," they're only made of paper but they only cost a dime".

Well, Madnut, the Marie Osmond song and the "Only cost a dime" song at different. The "dime" one is "Paper Rosie," which you'll find wat the cowpie archives at http://www.roughstock.com/cowpie/. I haven't found the Marie Osmond version yet.

Didn't someone by the name of maybe (Lynn) Anderson or something like that sing "Paper Roses"?

I couldn't find a copy of "Paper Roses" on the Web, so I'll post it here, not that you could call it a folk song

PAPER ROSES
words by Janice Torre
music by Fred Spielman, 1960

I realize the way your eyes deceived me
With tender looks that I mistook for love;
So take away the flowers that you gave me
And send the kind that you remind me of.
[chorus]
Paper roses, Paper roses.
Oh, how real those roses seem to be!
But they're only imitation,
Like your imitation love for me.

Your pretty lips look warm and so appealing,
They seem to have the sweetness of a rose;
But throw away the flowers that I gave you
I'll send the kind that you remind me of.
[chorus]

Dear Joe,

Learned it this way. Believe lyrics differ depending on gender of singer. Does anyone know if this was recorded by Patsy Cline? Looked at a couple of her sites, but couldn't find it. Know Anita Bryant did it. Prefer Cline.

PAPER ROSES

I realize the way your eyes deceived me,
With tender looks that I mistook for love;
So take away the flowers that you gave me,
And send the kind that you remind me of:

(Chorus) Paper roses, paper roses,
Oh how real those roses seem to be;
But they're only imitation,
Like your imitation love for me.

I thought that you would be a perfect lover:
You seemed so full of sweetness at the start;
But like a big red rose that's made of paper,
There isn't any sweetness in your heart.

(Chorus) Paper roses, paper roses,
Oh how real those roses seem to be;
But they're only imitation,
Like your imitation love for me.
Like your imitation love for me.

Shula

P.S. Maybe this didn't START as folk, but if it doesn't count by now, we'll have to leave out a lot of other recorded, and signed material, as well. It has certainly entered what DicK G. calls "the vernacular!"

I heard one of my friends sing "paper roses, rubber noses." I don't know if there was any more to the parody.

Shula has the version Marie Osmond sang (boy oh boy was i hot on her... sigh...). I've always wondered who else might have sung this one.
