21 Feb 01 - 01:14 PM (#402905) Subject: Non-Music Help: Pente - where to find? From: Mrrzy I've been looking everywhere, face world and web - cannot find this great game anymore! I want it on computer (IBM-type) so I can play it without a partner (yes, I do want help playing with myself *sigh*) but I'd also like the real thing... How did this SUPERB game fall so far out of fashion that people at WeBeToys haven't even heard of it??? Can anyone help me find a set? |

From: katlaughing Mrzzy, if you put "pente game" in the search box at google.com, it comes up with a bunch, including this ONLINE VERSION. I vaugely recall seeing this as a child, but never played it...guess I will now have to "check it out." Thanks, kat |

Nobody seems to make it for computer yet, though... so if anyone knows where I can get it to play against the computer, that'd be great, but at least I can get the "hard copy" now, thanks again! |

It's a 5-in-a-row coupled with Capture 2 - if you can bracket 2 opponent's stones between 2 of yours they are captured, so you can block OR capture to stop the opponent's 5. And you have to watch for capture vulnerability while trying to make your 5. One of those easy-to-learn-hard-to-master things. It is now what I play instead of hearts while waiting for things to happen over the modem to work... |
