You can find lots of Leadbelly songs right here at Mudcat. Use our SuperSearch and see what you come back with. His name comes three different ways, Leadbelly, Lead Belly, and Ledbetter - for best results, try all three, one at a time.

You may find Leadbelly recordings at http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/award97/ncdhtml/hasmhome.html, the American Memory Collection of the Library of Congress. Take a close look there at http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/lohtml/lohome.html, the John and Ruby Lomax 1939 Southern States Recording Trip. I didn't find any Leadbelly recordings there right off, but I did find information and pictures about him.

Do take the time to search Mudcat under all three versions of Leadbelly's name. You'll find a wealth of information and lots of songs.

I did a search for Leadbelly MP3 at www.google.com and found lots of sources of online recordings - click here. -Joe Offer- (e-mail sent)
