26 Feb 01 - 10:09 AM (#406469) Subject: Rick & Peter T. do Dylan Part III From: Steve Latimer Just a reminder that tonight is the third segment in what is becoming the CIUT Dylan Mini-series. The first two have been excellent, I expect no less of this one. What are you planning on covering tonight fellas? Have you had any non-Mudcat feeedback? |

26 Feb 01 - 11:05 AM (#406509) Subject: RE: Rick & Peter T. do Dylan Part III From: Rick Fielding Hi Steve. Wish you'd have let us announce the third one. It won't be for a few weeks. Actually ninety percent of the feedback has had nothing to do with Mudcat. I've gotten quite a few calls and e-mails from listeners. Many from our Buffalo contingency. Mostly positive, but with a few folks saying "shut up and play the songs"! Every show gets a fair amount of feedback. Some folks are in the habit of rating every program. It's fun to hear what they have to say. When we're doing the third program I'll keep ya posted. Rick |

26 Feb 01 - 11:40 AM (#406539) Subject: RE: Rick & Peter T. do Dylan Part III From: Peter T. What happened was, Rick and I were team driving this motorcycle and we fell off and hurt ourselves, and have now gone into hiding, in his house (The Big Orange), and who knows when we will emerge, and if our voices will have changed, and our personaes too. Stay tuned..... yours, Peter T. |

26 Feb 01 - 11:45 AM (#406543) Subject: RE: Rick & Peter T. do Dylan Part III From: Steve Latimer Sorry about the premature announcement. I'll leave it in your hands in the future. Hey Peter, I've heard rumours of a series of bootlegs from Big Orange. Can I get my hands on them, I hear they're brilliant. |

26 Feb 01 - 11:58 AM (#406557) Subject: RE: Rick & Peter T. do Dylan Part III From: Peter T. You sure are right, Steve. There are 27 of them now, of which the cream are "The Renovated Basement Tapes". As you know, a few appeared on Rick's Greatest Hits IV, particularly the banjo stylings with the Traumatic Brothers, Happy, Artie, and Dopey. Others include: 1. The Thunder Bay Motor Hotel tape of that old Stan Rogers' favourite, "You Can't Stay Here, But the Hallway is Pretty Dark" from the late 1970s. 2. The "Toronto Sessions" outtakes, including his version of Blind Willie McTell's "I May Be Blind, But You Can Be My Seeing-Eye Woman". Also his great version, long swapped by the cognoscenti, of the Snap, Crackle, Pop song the way the Rev. Gary Davis did it at Newport. 3. Alternative masters from Rick's "I've Been Singing Gospel Songs So Long Jesus is Going To Give Me A Free Pass to Heaven" conversion album. The best cut is the duet reading with William Shatner of the Gospel According to St. Luke. 1 hour and 30 minutes of undiluted, well, gospel! And so on. In stores soon. yours, Peter T. |
