A single male voice is joined on refrains by at least one female and backed throughout by an absolutely astonishing fiddletune. The performers sound something like J Denver's old buddies Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert. I checked under Starland Vocal Band but I think this tune is more recent. Here's what little I remember: 1st line: Its lullaby time in the desert . . . . coyotes start to howl. A lot of harmonic "oohing" between verses, and a Chorus/refrain that goes: Won't you lay your head down on the sack, listen to the wipporwill's song, All along the desert tonight, sleepy eyes closing til dawn. In some notes I found about Chris Hillman, it says: The first song on "Daddies Sing Goodnight: A Fathers' Collection of Sleepytime songs" was "Lullaby Time in the Desert," written and performed by Hillman with help from most of the former members of the Desert Rose Band. I didn't look around to see if there was a link to a source for the album or whether it is available on CD but you might be able to locate one through the usual sources.
