BRIGHT RED ROSE
(by Chuck Cliff)

There's angel outside my window,
she hands me a bright-red rose!
She smiles at me so sweetly, then
she began to sing me a song:

She sang me a song,
an unending song,
a song that goes on and on...
It's kind of confusing,
but the words and the music,
the words and the rhythmn are one...
As soon as you listen,
something that's hidden,
shines forth like the bright morning sun!!!

There is a song we all sing -- you know!
The melody's in everything -- that grows!
that grows -- you know...

There's angel outside my window,
she hands me a bright-red rose!
She smiles at me so sweetly, then
she started to fiddle with my heart:

Open your heart,
it won't tear you apart,
although at the start it may scare you...
Under the tree
a deep mysterey
may suddenly be revealed you!
Take that first step
then follow your breath,
there's one thing left I can tell you:

Life is the song we all sing -- that's true!
The melody's in everything -- we do!
we do -- that's true...

One afternoon I was looking out the window and saw Rose standing
there. She was about five years old then and had been playing hard
all day...

The picture stuck in my mind and, years
later, the lines:

"There's an angel outside my window,
standing there picking her nose,
her hair's a mess
and so are the rest of her clothes..."

came into my mind, that's how this song got started -- it's about
something very small children can teach us

That is really beautiful, Chuck. Be sure Aine sees it so that she can add it to the Mudcat Songbook, with your permission, of course.

Your Rose must be a beauty.

Thanks,

kat

Sorcha, must be your browser. I don't see any with IE.

kat, I'm running IE5, and they're still there. They show up on View Source, too......strange.

It was not a browser issue. It depended on which server was being accessed. Shorty would display the strange characters, loki wouldnt... I think I have fixed this thread now.

Shorty can't be trusted?

Naw, I think it was me trying to be too smart.

I was trying to put spaces in there so that it would look more pretty to the eye.

I wrote "&"nbsp; serveral times, (without the quotes)and htat is supposed to give a blank space in html (sigh)

Apparently, (I guess) this is the character "y" mit der umlaut -- and dat ladies n' gents, has gotta be one strange character

Yes, I did send it to Aine -- she's got a nice page.

Mine is all bollixed at the moment, 'cause y'all folks got me fired up to make the changes I had been thinking of for so long and now it doesn't work at all (sniff)
