Lyr Req: I Got Busted / Busted (Neil Innes)

Subject: Got the Lyrics to 'I Got Busted'?

This was a novelty song I heard once at least 25 or maybe 30 years ago, in the latter days of the hippies. The chorus went...

"I got busted!
They say I'm maladjusted
Now I never can be trusted
By anyone anymore
Yeah, I got busted!
My own mother was disgusted!
I got busted!
BY THE LAW...."

that last line "By the law..." was sung way down deep, in a base voice at the very pit of the human vocal range, as used to be done in some old rock 'n roll songs, as a humorous hook.

It was a pretty funny song, but I only heard it the one time, on some radio station. This was in the days of the long-haired boys when virtually everyone smoked a little grass or hash now and then and they were all a bit paranoid about unwanted attention from the police, so the song fit the times. Does anybody out there know it?

A quick search on GOOGLE.COM revealed two versions of this song here: neilinnes.org. Of course we all know Neil Innes as the writer of MANY of the Monty Python songs....

Neil Innes rocks! He was with the Bonzo Dog band. He wrote the "boldly brave sir robin" stuff from Holy Grail. He virtually *IS* the Rutles. A madcap genius.
